    Final Fantasy XIV Game Setup

    Hello Community!

I just recently setup FFXIV and wanted to post what my initial impressions were so far, before I forget and start getting into the meat and potatoes of the game.

Overall, it's not bad, not as bad as what the reviews would like you to believe. I had just recently decided to try out the game for a second time after hearing about the latest fixes. I was a participant in the Open Beta program, though due to the overwhelming issues, decided not to invest until some improvements were made. As impressed as I am with the improvements made since Open Beta, there is still room for improvement. Below are a few suggestions I have with game setup:
    1. The game setup takes over an hour, when having to create 3 accounts (SE members, account, and clickandbuy). It’s a lot of steps to take just to start playing the game, I think most would either get lost or give up. It would be great if there was a seamless way to do all three.
    2. Improve the documentation, make it simple. It was hard to pick out the important information from pages of documentation. Include descriptive information during the setup. Limit the amount a user has to research during account and character setup (links to forums don’t count).
    3. Fix the game configuration, it looks really unprofessional. If you can combine it with the actual game, allowing settings to change on the fly (and allow Alt+Tab not to crash fullscreen), then you will have a professional game configuration.

As most, the pains of setup will soon be forgotten once getting more involved in the game, though these pain points will remain as long as they are not addressed. Now I’m off to continue my in-game adventure. Cheers!
