It's extremely non-generous to assume portal 2 will only have "6 hours" of gameplay, between the SP, 2 player co-op campaign and the challenges. The SP is supposed to be much longer than the original.

Actually the "6 hours" estimate comes directly from valve. You can even add another 6 hours for co-op (that not everyone is going to do), and you get a completely negligible effect on the MMORPG market.

The only visible effect will be on sales, and FFXIV is free at the moment.

But actually, Portal 2 might have a very benficial effect on FFXIV, or at the very least on it's forums. We can only hope.
