As I understood it, Nielle was the one who made the Heartstrike Dagger. Lord Lolorito, being his patron, is thus justified in his claim of ownership of this crafted object.
People may be suspicious of Lolorito being the assassin's director, but I am yet to see any proof. I wouldn't be surprised if the assassin was actually Warburton himself - Nielle was having quite the WTF moment when he opened the coffin, as if there was something out of place. What if the body was missing?

I believe her work on the Path of the Twelve is testament that she did, as is Seranelian's revelation that she is one of very few who witnessed the Fall of the Keeper and thus the breaking of the primal seal, although the implications of this are complex, myriad and hard to fully comprehend, but none the less potentially fatal for Eorzeans.

As above, I believe he was a witness to the Fall of the Keeper and this was his news. But let's face it, the parade was in the way, most of Ul'dahn was watching it anyway, and would it hurt to relax for just an hour or so after a long trip by chocobo carriage?
