To be fair to ClausL, I didn't really like how she sounded in that video either. Maybe I just really prefer Faye Wong singing Eyes on Me, or something. Now Susan Calloway singing Answers, or Distant Worlds is wonderful (especially Answers).
Claiming to have never heard someone and not liking their version of a song is two different things. She was also backstage practicing not on stage or in a studio where the acoustics are more ideal.

I was at this live performance of the song and it sounded way better than the video posted by Vil.

Your link doesn't quite work. You need to get rid of the # or it just redirects to the YouTube homepage (or that's what it does to me). So correct link would be http://youtube.com/watch?v=hIrwnwJbFy8Claiming to have never heard someone and not liking their version of a song is two different things. She was also backstage practicing not on stage or in a studio where the acoustics are more ideal.

You're right. Looking back, I shouldn't have quoted you if I was only going to say that. I did have more in mind and actually thought I had written it. I put it down to being in a rush to go to lunch (I wrote it at 11:21 my time) and my brain working faster than my typing. What I should have said:
"I'm sure this is just more of ClausL hating everything we like, but to be fair, I didn't really like how she sounded in that video either. Maybe I just really prefer Faye Wong singing Eyes on Me, or something. Now Susan Calloway singing Answers, or Distant Worlds is wonderful (especially Answers). If this was my only exposure to her, I probably would feel the same way. As for not having heard of her, I can see it being possible. I probably only know her name since I specifically looked for Answers after watching End of an Era and only vaguely remembered that she also sang Distant Worlds in XI. I had to look up Eyes on Me to find out who originally sang it when I started this post. I pay more attention to the songs than who sings them. Answers and Distant Worlds are actually the only Final Fantasy songs that I know who sang them off the top of my head."
The live performance version is definitely much better. I'd love to go to Distant Worlds, but they never come here. ; ;
@_@ that was alot lol, I was on my phone just waking up so it was a mobile link and I figured I could be lazy and remove the m. part and it work fine.
As for Distant Worlds, I have been to like 3-4 and only one of them didn't feature Susan Calloway and her voice is both beautiful and powerful and for a lot of FF songs it seems to fit IMO.
Another example of a song I heard live there (the video isn't from the exact concert but the best quality youtube had to offer): Kiss Me Goodbye from FFXII - http://youtu.be/q3DXM75CiSc?t=20s
