A Statement:
This Free Company and its Linkshells have been my brain child since the announcement of Free Companies originally; I wish to unite as many players together as I can, regardless of play styles, in a system that everyone can coexist and mutually benefit from. It is my hope that our community continues to grow and thrive, and that new members will feel like they are a part of the community from day 1. I wish to provide a place any player can call home, this means having both long term and short term goals that can only be accomplished with teamwork and determination. In the end however, the ultimate goal is the have fun and maybe even make friends in the process - such is the beauty of the internet, uniting us all, even if it is against pixels. Please read over the link that I have provided and I promise you will have a good read. This system, like any system, isn't without its flaws, but with cooperation, determination, and dedication we can overcome any obstacle, and create a community that we can all come to know and trust. Before you even start reading, might I suggest you instead go our Official '[About Us]' Page? Everything we have posted about Chocobo Knights of Apocalypse, The Foundry Exchange, and the Detritus Free Company will be posted there until our new website is complete. This post will simply do us no justice. If you DO put in an application, feel free to give this post a reply and a hello.

About us:

CKoA is a Linkshell that serves as a social network to a wide range of individuals that want or need team play, and need a group they can come to know and trust. This isn't something you can leech off of, it's give and take here - Everyone does their part, everyone gets along, everyone acts mature, polite, and isn't a total asshat, otherwise they're gone.

Please be 18+ Years or older.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether or not you played before the Calamity.

A little about our history.
We are the 'Chocobo Knights of Apocalypse.' We have roamed Eorzea for two years, defended our homes with ours lives in the face of certain doom, and emerged from the apocalyptic Calamity the befell the land at the hands of Bahamut and Nael van Darnus. We are seasoned players with many backgrounds, and varying experiences with MMORPGs including, but not limited to FFXI, Aion, DAoC, Ragnarok Online, and Guild Wars. We have always been welcoming, friendly, and helpful and are always looking to expand our community with anyone that wants to join us for the fun. Many of our members are known to be casual, yet capable of accomplishing feats like other seasoned groups, with minimal to zero casualties. Our members are knowledgeable and experienced, some have played since Alpha/Beta (the first ones), and others are veteran FFXI players. We have a broad range of members across many timezones, and many cultures. We are welcoming and seek only to have fun. We do a little of everything, and are always looking to do more. Our Linkshell will be founded on the basis that no content should be out of reach to any player. our Free Company founded because of our fight against Nael Deus Darnus. Armed with sub-standard gear and determination, we cleared the fight, and decided that the game should always be that fun.

CKoA is an Official Linkshell of the Detritus Free Company, a Hardcore (You have flexible hours of play and the desire to dedicate yourself to getting things accomplished) Free Company that will be formed with the ideal of having fun, and getting things done, plain and simple. In order to get into our Free Company, you have to first join our Linkshell, from there your skills will be evaluated, and if we like you, we will probably recruit you. Those of you that are more relaxed in your play style, fret not! Our Linkshell is there not only to serve as the bulk of our numbers, but to also bring together people from all over the world with the same goals as you, and as an easy way to make friends and get things going.

In addition to CKoA, we also plan to form "The Foundry Exchange" - A Linkshell for DoH and DoL meant for the exchanging of information, items, equipment, and of course Gil. We plan to fully integrate TFE into our Free Company as not only a way to keep organized, but as a means by which to earn the Free Company, and by extension, our Linkshells money and resources. This means that we plan to have Free Company wide events involving anyone that wants to join; many of these events will include the gathering together of resources and redistribution of newly created equipment, potions, and more to members of the Free Company and Linkshells. Through TFE, we also hope to enable players outside of the FC/LSs to commission items to be crafted and/or gathered; many of these items, or required materials will be provided by the Free Company, and a tax applied to the payment depending on the % of FC resources used. Receipts can then be mailed, along with the item(s) in question using Moogle Mail.


Region:
We are a North American-based Linkshell/Free Company, so optimal player logins will be in the PST/CST/EST and nearby range, but we welcome players from all over the world - Perhaps given time we will become a fully international group given size restrictions.

Server Selection at release:
We will be playing on the new Masamune server.

Summary of our Linkshell for potential recruits:

• Focus: Having fun, and getting things done. [All content considered]
• Time Zone: North American Based, Western Hemisphere. We accept people from other parts of the world.
• Age 18+ Must also be mature and respectful.
• Yes, we do have Voice Chat. Currently Mumble.
• We will be utilizing Voice Chat - Events within the Free Company will REQUIRE Voice Chat in order to participate. You DO NOT have to talk, just listen for the sake of organization and cooperation.
• We're an old Linkshell, consisting of version 1.0 players, but everyone is welcome to join us!
• Some of our veteran/founding members have been around since as far back as Alpha Testing. (The first one)
• The Founding Members have known each other for some time, we communicate on a regular basis and are average people like everyone else, so we understand if play time has to be sometimes limited.
• We do instances, Skirmish, Artifact Gear, Hamlet, crafting, Primals, Relics, and hope to also start Free Company-wide events including even DoL/DoH.
• We are a social Linkshell, and do not have an elitist mindset, though anyone that is, but is courteous to their fellow players are welcome.
• Going to most events aren't required, but every so often we ask that you join us for the fun.
• This Linkshell is only a part of the bigger whole that is Detritus, our Free Company.
• We will be playing on a server that allows 1.0 characters - Server Name TBD.

I certainly hope so, the more the messier! Who knows what the servers will be in ARR, but if they give us back our old servers as options, then we're possibly looking at going back to Masamune. I blame ignorance on my behalf, but I never payed much attention to just what kind of server Masamune was (US/Oceanic/Japanese/et cetera) but I rather liked it there. We're going to know where to go hopefully no later than the end of Phase 3 or the beginning of Phase 4 (Open Beta Testing).

I checked your website to see if I could apply but found out that your linkshell is requiring players to use VoIP for events. I hope to see ARR doesn't turn out to force players to use it.

Well, thank you for the information I'll be waiting. Any linkshell out there that doesn't need VoIP at all like FFXI? >.<

99% of everything on the website is my doing so it's by far not perfect, so thank you for pointing this out to me. I'll still be making periodic changes here and there for the sake of clarification; here is the fix that I should have made a while ago.

"VoiP (Voice Chat) - We have a Mumble server that anyone within the FC and LSs may use. Most content within the game will not be complicated or convoluted enough to require voice chat. Some events (but not a lot) will require use of Voice Chat for the sake of organization, however you are not required to talk, just listen. Static groups operating out of the Free Company are more likely to require voice chat as an alternative to typing for quick and efficient communications; members of the Linkshell wishing to participate in statics may be asked to log into Mumble for this reason. All members will be allowed to request being opt-out of VoiP use, but depending on the content and the player's familiarily with said content, may not have this request granted (i.e. Crystal Tower and The Great Labyrinth of Bahamut)"

Great information! It's good to know that VoIP is not required most of time but I'd like to point out this:

So what can deaf players like me do? I know it may be difficult to discuss until we try the full content first. I am sure SE already know about it that's why they made some special features (example: Pop icons above of mod heads to let players know what to do next.) I know it's important for deaf players to let leaders know they are deaf and need some assistance. Maybe it would be helpful if you select one of your members to assist me so I can follow where she/he goes. While they are doing something I am sure they can learn something different than what hearing players can do. Make some macros would be helpful and you don't have to type something and make more informations for them to review before start. That's what I want to know. ^^
