Hm! Pretty similar. Maybe the Sanguine Sirens aren't the only ones with gang colors and matching threads. Never considered that Emerick might have just been wearing his "uniform"...
Thanks for clearing that up so fast. These here forums are wont to inadvertantly turn musing into fanon if left unattended around anything that ends in "duction." Induction, deduction, abduction... subduction...

Your lore-mongering is impressive. I'm not sure I've seen the explanation as to why there are 5 Y'shtolas in this CS. If you could, please point me to discussion on this.

Mjollnir about summed it up. The fringe theory is that perhaps there is some special power involved; that she's using the echo to appear here from 5 minutes from now, 10 minutes from now, 15 minutes from now, etc. all back to the same point just to stress the importance of the event to you...
The far more likely but far less interesting idea is that she's just a kickass mage. Nothing we've seen her do can't be explained away with idealized forms of protect, stoneskin, and blink/mirror image. After all, we never really see any of the other archons use mysterious powers.
It really does, though I admit the face is a little different. With Emerick's story in the past, his alleged present-day life as Blackburn, and the fact that this NPC's name is probably Gerard or Gurald or Gerald... I'm gonna have to assume it's just standard Kraken garb.

Some folk have suggested hardcore Echo manipulation as the explanation for that scene. I think that the reason is a little more mundane; the 75th level Conjurer spell "Mirror Image".
Y'shtola does a number of wacky things (slowing bullets, catching axes, globes of invulnerability), which I'm presuming are CNJ magicks we haven't had access to yet.
Another reason I think this is because we are the only person to have Echoed within an Echo, causing the starshower and probably creating the ability in the first place.
I dunno. That does look suspiciously like Blackbu... err, I mean Emerick.
We should also keep in mind that if this is a cutscene for a new character, they may have to undergo an echo sequence as part of their main scenario that could possibly, maybe trace a version of event similar to the version 1.0 story arcs...
...maybe........
