Let's talk Magitek

I would be all over an Engineer class/job. Gunblade as it's main weapon. Make it some sort of mixed ranged/melee damage dealing class. Grenades and other Magitek trinkets for debuffs or snares.

a Doh and Dow mixed class would be neat (thats how i would do it) a class where you can make your own gear/weapons that can be used instead of buying them you buy the parts and make it. Kinda like this...say at lvl 30 (just to say) you learn how to make gunblades(recipe based skill?) and buy and make your new weapon based on that and learn how to repair them (things need to repair) maybe? just going out on a limb here lol

because it's hard to know how much of their Ceruleum supply comes from the Ceruleum Field in Thanalan (which strongly resemble Mako reactors).

Actually, I think it's mentioned that those belong to the Garlond Ironworks. Cid talked about their Ceruleum mining operations during one of the Immortal Flames GC quests. Some Maelstrom pirates were trying to steal Ceruleum, and he warned them to not be so reckless with the crates because it's an incredibly volatile substance.

Think he said something along the lines of a single explosion being enough to set off a chain reaction that would blow up most of Northern Thanalan.

Your post did stir up another question, though. How exactly do their Vanguards and Juggernauts function? While the Juggernauts are big enough to be piloted, the Vanguards aren't. Are they remotely controlled? Or has Garlemald managed to successfully integrate AI into Magitek?

Maybe they went the Dr. Robotnik route and fused living creatures to act as it's intelligence? I mean if we're going to go the route of prosthetics and cybernetic stuff... It seems more likely they'd try that. I don't think our magic can even do that from what we've seen and I'd wager Mammets are something created by the alchemist's guild as kind of puppet humonculous hybrids...

Lot's of fascinating things to think about with magitech...

Also, I really do like the scene I posted. I'm hoping they delve deeply into the Magitek side of things as I do enjoy chunks of sci fi mixed in my fantasy jello.
