Yhah Amariyo & Ziuz Amariyo: The Town Crier and the idle NPC.

I just noticed a possible relative to Ziuz Amariyo.

Now that we know the naming conventions for Miqo'te, I assume these two are Keepers of the Moon (I'm not that skilled to recognize quickly just by looks, sorry!). But the cool fact is how their surname can probably be linked back way back to past eras. So they might not have the same mother, but they might have the same great-great-great-great-great-grandmother.

Which makes me wonder (and is indirectly a question to the lore master), do Keepers of the Moon have any personal feelings/connection if they happen across a stranger with the same surname? Or would it just amount to: "Oh hey, we have the same surname. neat.gif" and they go on their merry way?

Also using surname for clans, we might be able to further use the echo in the future for way way back eras xD!

This is an interesting topic as it sort of relates to a RL experience for me. (and yes I do remember this original topic, would be nice to get some insight on it!)

I was at a bowling tournament this weekend (well, I was at the same one a year ago and met this same lady) and this lady comes up to me and tells me her maiden name was the same as my last name and was wondering where I came from. I'm originally from Arkansas and she was from New York. So basically I had that neat.gif moment about it, but I didn't think much about it. I can't say my ancestry has ever really been something I cared about.

Which also makes me wonder what it's like for other races/clans regarding strangers.

I assume Hyurs are more indifferent to others by taking note of that tidbit of Midlander vs Highlander hostilities.

There are many Keeper of the Moon family names that have been passed down through the generations.
The ones you see in-game (thank you for compiling that list aviha!) represent some of the more prominent families that once crossed the frozen seas into Eorzea in search for prey. That does not mean that these are all the names available. There are some families who have chosen to live more secluded lives, and simply have not made an appearance in-game yet. There are also the families who remained in their homeland, or emigrated to lands other than Eorzea.

So, when creating a character, you are free to take the surname of an existing family, and inherit their history, or choose a yet-to-be-released surname, and build a new history.
