If Able, Would You Change Your Name To Meet Racial Conventions?

I'm totally disappointed (honestly I'm furious!) that this kind of lore is revealed at the release of the 2.0 version of a game I played for 2 years. I always liked to role play with my characters since ffxi (more then collecting rare/ex gear I have to say) and now my character is a nonsense in role playing terms. And I wasted time studing ffxi mithra names to create a good name. Thank you for ruining my mood today and my game experience!

Those are all mooncat names, and there's a couple of suncat names in the mooncat list as well. What I imagine happened is that the character model was tinkered with later, after the character had already been placed. There's a Lalafell with the same situation: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Keketo Since she's plainsfolk, the name should be Ketoto or maybe Tokeke.

But in that case the name will be Hira and anyway nurhiyo will be too long for a male cat. I could agree and change my name for racial convenctions but the only name that sound good for me is O'khira Nurhyo... but the mole tribe? Come on moles? Dodos? Eorzea lacks of aggressive fauna? Y'shtola of the jaguars, O'khira of the moles!?!?!?!?! No way!

Given how many people die in this war-ravaged little world of ours (even if we don't see it often), it stands to reason there are a lot of orphans. I also imagine it's considered irresponsible for a parent to become an adventurer, too, but I'm sure it's happened.

I might. My in-game name is Mishugashu Hawkwind, because I've always been Mishugashu in all Final Fantasies, and I just made up a last name. But according to this naming convention (I'm Lalafell Plainsfolk), my first name is my whole name! Mishu Gashu. I might like changing it to that.

I love that phonetically it can be said as 'Miss you Gash you"...love it
