Away Message, AFK after a set amount of time, and the idea for giving AFK status people low rendering priority sounds like a good bunch of ideas to me.This would work better:
1. Instead of a chat bubble, put a circular "AFK" symbol by their names.
2. Edit the rendering engine so that people with AFK status get rendered last. In other words: NPCs, objects, and people who are actively playing the game have more priority over the servers and people's computers than the AFKers. This will make an AFK-filled Ul'dah less laggy as a result.
Thanks for the info! One question, though... What about a means to automatically go into AFK status after a period of inactivity?
