Meh... When I go AFK, I would smoke a cigarette instead of have a bubble comment.
Our characters are too young to be in bad health. ~.~

holy shi*s on a biscuit !Ragnarok Online actually let you open an afk chat.
Whatever you put as the title it would pop up above your head like a chat bubble.
People we're allowed to come inside (depending on the number of users permitted inside the chat and if there is a password required to get inside) and leave messages for you when you get back. I found actually really convenient.
If they do decide to add this. Lets hope it won't look like anything in the above picture. Most of those are merchants trying to sell wares but you get the point!
like Yrusama said, if that is the case then only ppl with in a few yalms away from you should have their messages displayed..
cause that ^ ... is just a server on drugs.

This is hte first good suggestion I've seen in a long time. Not even a bubble though, just an auto-reply to tell's and an icon replacing your ls like in xi.

LOL. Oh, good old Prontera... Yeah, if they every implemented afk comments, I'd hope they did better than that, lol. Walking through Prontera could be a nightmare sometimes.
Adventurers will be able to set yourself to AFK status through the use of a command (for example, something like /afk). However, there are currently no plans to implement an automated reply system or a way to automatically remove yourself from AFK status. We'll be looking into these suggestions in the future though.![]()

This would work better:
1. Instead of a chat bubble, put a circular "AFK" symbol by their names.
2. Edit the rendering engine so that people with AFK status get rendered last. In other words: NPCs, objects, and people who are actively playing the game have more priority over the servers and people's computers than the AFKers. This will make an AFK-filled Ul'dah less laggy as a result.
Thanks for the info! One question, though... What about a means to automatically go into AFK status after a period of inactivity?Adventurers will be able to set yourself to AFK status through the use of a command (for example, something like /afk). Away Message, AFK after a set amount of time, and the idea for giving AFK status people low rendering priority sounds like a good bunch of ideas to me.This would work better:
