How do you view your character?

I've had that discussion with a friend of mine. My argument was that playing MMOs as such was no different than playing with dolls. Kinda like dolls/action figures for grownups I base my argument on the simple comparaison:

Dolls: you dress em up, make up stories/personalities about them, feed them, walk em around, etc.
MMO: you dress em up, make up stories/personalities about them, feed them, walk em around, etc.

I see characters as dolls or pets (since i'm playing a mithra). I disconnect myself from them to allow me to play a female character.
