FFXI the AH's where not linked together either, they only started being linked when they added expansion cities. And I think until a few months ago the 3 starter cities and Jueno where still kept separately.

And that worked in FFXI for a little while.. until all of the players moved onto the expansion cities. Then the old Auction Houses were left to rot, prices inflated, and you would never be able to find what you're looking for.

Will Ishgard have a market ward? What about other cities in the future?

You joking right? in the city you could find item from level 1-19 without problems once you reach level 20 you have to go to the jeuno AH to find anything. I got all my gear from sandy AH from 1-19 and finding crystal and item that are link to quest within the city where full of them. The AH system in city was not dead too they added wing of the godness.
