I'd be for this to increase the server pops a little. When I play, things seem a little sparce population wise.

No one expects the miquote inquisition!!!
id say we dump everyone logged in but moving on a deserted server lol, less wasted bandwith for us that are actually moving
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
Merging would be a short term solution but a long-term mistake. The players who don't play but still have this game installed on their PC far outnumber those who still play. However, you can't assume they're not part of the server any more. Way too early to assume that. They *may* come back if the battle engine is successful and the PVE content is a hit, and the new job system is great. And they may come back in force. Plus, you have the PS3 release coming up, which might boost the server population by 50% or more.
Merging the servers is only a good decision if everyone's assuming FFXIV will continue to underperform. Therefore, if we're going to merge we might as well just stop.

No. There should not be any server merges or transfers available until I'd say 3 months after PS3 release. That way the population has had a time to stabilize and they can properly evaluate whether or not which servers need to be merged. Doing it any sooner would cause far more problems than it would solve.

Screw that just give us regional servers already !

They will not merge severs atm because it would then be like admitting the game has failed.
Agreed. I like being able to log in at any time of the day and see lots of people. In Final Fantasy, it's always peak time somewhere.
