I have an Alienware M17x R4. i7-3610QM, gtx 660, 8gb 1600, and a 128 gb ssd and it scored a 4000 at 1080p maxed. A lot of people don't like alienwares because of their price tag, but I've owned 3 and never had a problem. All of them performed really well. They ARE overpriced, but I just LOVE the way they look so I don't really care.
However you will always get more power for cheaper in a desktop. I spent $1500 and got a computer that scored an 7000 on the benchmark. i5s seem to be the popular choice now, my grandpa has a 3570 in his along with a gtx670 and scored a 7000. You WILL see improvements with an i7 I believe. Another PC I built has a i7-3820 with a 660 and also scored a 7000. It has a slower GPU with an i7, so having an i7 must be somewhat better. Maybe it's because it supports quad channel memory and bigger caches? I don't know that much into it. You might wanna hold off until the 700 series comes out, or those new titan cards. The 600 series will drop in price, and the new ones will be better for the price of a 600 currently probably.
PS) The 3770k outperforms the 3820 for cheaper, so a 3770k with my gtx660 wouldve out done the 3570k with a 670. Don't do what I did and get the 2011 socket CPU, I wish I would've gotten a 1155 socket mobo so I could've easily switched to the new Ivy Bridge CPUs. ; ;

Your post in the benchmark thread lists a ~7100 score on 1920x1080 Maximum preset. The higher scores you're posting here are misleading with "custom" settings and lower resolutions, unless you have new screenshots?
I only ask/looked because I have a 7950 and your claim seemed suspect.
Sure thing, and if your TV has a pc hook up it will work just fine. I use a 47" flatscreen myself

Hopefully you decide to buy a desktop, but if your still leaning towards the laptop, both of the laptop links your provide should give you pretty much the same performance, main difference between the two is the more expensive one has more storage space.
I would recommend building your own desktop since they can be easily upgraded yourself and they can be more powerful than any laptop of the same value.
But if you are like my wife, she likes the ability to be able to sit anywhere and take it with her anywhere so that's the only plus to a laptop. The last laptop I had...I had to keep ice packs under it to keep it from overheating and reducing my FPS down to 1 >_>
I've been gaming on laptop and desktop for years. If your gonna spend the money and i recommend building your own desktop. why? cuz you'll run into less compatibility issues, and output much better performance. But if you have to get a laptop, i would recommend getting an Asus G series as well, and just a tip, never buy from bestbuy regarding gaming laptops.
Edit: Oh, and be sure to get a good notebook cooler. i recommend something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834991042
