Countering Leeching

Bleh... they should do something to counter power-leveling in this game.

I mean 1.0, you could get all your classes to 50 relatively quickly just getting power-leveled. Which was lazy... and nobody knew how to play their classes, much less knew what the skills did.

To level I would think people should have to contribute to the battle, not just standing around leeching EXP. That shows its just too easy lol.

You can't counter powerleveling. People will find a way to do it no matter what counters you think up. Besides, what business is it of yours how fast somebody else levels?

People do have to contribute to battles if they want the fastest EXP. By not contributing, you're killing things slower. By killing things slower, you're getting EXP slower. The vast majority of people aren't "powerleveled" or leeching. Typically, if you do these things, you're just that much worse off when you reach the level cap, as leeching/power leveling teaches you nothing about playing the game. Their poor play will catch up with them when they try to do anything of significance. Just leave these people be.

I think its everybody's business especially when they try to party with you and don't know how to play their class despite being at max level.

Then you kick those people and find people who are competent. It's everyone's choice whether they want to suck or not, and it's your choice to play with them or not.

Yoshi P has made comments that he is not against power leveling. So I wouldn't expect features to be added that impede power leveling, or being afk. And I'd wager to guess that the toggle allowing to be booted had everything to do with reducing server loads, and nothing to do with the prevention of leeching.

Yeah and if a MMORPG does a good job of the leveling process then the player is also sacrificing the fun of taking their time and doing things as intended. Most players don't power level because they want to have fun while they play and power leveling is anything but fun for the player. It's convenient if your in a hurry to the top but thats it.

As for leeching it was exagerated in XIV because of the way some of the content worked which i believe was due to limitations. Hopefully that won't be an issue in 2.0. Abyssea in XI is the kind of content i hope SE avoid like the plague, speed leveling with such large groups for such long periods of time was so easy to leech if you wanted to...
