If the media say this and that, you kids would be the first one up believing like "oh shiet, ice creams are falling from the sky!" Please just sit down and look cute, and let the grown up take care of the business.
And you know what make things worst? If you kids are actually adults. Now feel more pathetic.
I wasn't even in the intended group for that response, and even I felt the sting of it. Should step out of the crossfire here :-p
Brutal.
But fair![]()

As others have explained, the PS3 version shown is only 75% optimized.
Furthermore, it is consoles that brought video games into the mainstream.
How many video games take full advantage of a PC? The numbers are not impressive because there isn't many.
Consider this.
As years pass, you have trouble wanting to update hardware due to unoptimized software code. example;
PS3 GPU- based on Geforce 7900 GTX series. Battlefield 3 runs.
PC GPU- 7900 GTX. Battlefield 3 fails to run because it's not Direct X-10 compliant card.

They shouldn't scrap it.I just finished watching the "Tour of Eorzea" video. They should really consider scrapping the PS3 version.
There was so much screen tearing and the frame rate was plain horrible. "We're bringing in the guys from Sony" doesn't give me much hope.
If they try to actually sell that for money, it will just piss even more fans off.
Who else agrees they should give up on the PS3 version? Release ARR for PC and perhaps consider a future PS4 release.
Part of why they made it, is to earn the trust back, because SE had promised to make a PS3 version from the start...which they didn't.
The PS3 version isn't done yet....which is why PS3 beta doesn't start until Phase 3.
On the game launch, the PS3 version WILL be optimized; and that's months away.
I don't know how they will do it; might be they need to reduce graphic quality a bit; but they are NOT going to launch the game if it would look like the media vids.
A PS3 version does not exclude a PS4 release.
Many people have PS3, not many gonna get PS4 initially. So a PS4 release will be far off anyways.
They would be ''scrapping'' a big ass potential profit.

By the way, the compression of the video looks quite iffy to me. If you compare the *PC* graphics in the video with the benchmark running in real time on your PC, you'll notice a very big difference. So I wouldn't be so sure that the PS3 version looks exactly like that even in this state.

most probably still shuttering, just that it's might be less shuttering or the opposite...By the way, the compression of the video looks quite iffy to me. yes i know its not optimized yet..
but i was -always- wondering. what they are going to do, when about 50 players are on screen at the same time? it will become a lag fest wont it?
there should also be an option for the ps3 to lower down the details in these cases. No? (when i think of mass pvp or FATE or other big events)

The PS3 version will have a character display limit exactly like 1.0 did.
Why won't people just read?I have no doubt that they will be able to get FFXIV to run great on PS3. My concern is that if they release the game for PS3, that they will then bind the game like FFXI.
For years FFXI fans have been asking SE to make FFXI look better. They responded that they are not able to because of the limitations of the PS2.
Here we are now, 8 months before the release of PS4; and SE still chooses to back itself in a corner again.
Yes the game will run fine on PS3, but in 5 years when the FFXIV fans ask SE for an upgrade. Be prepared for a "sorry we are unable to upgrade due to the limitations of the PS3" response.
This is where SE fails. They always seem to be 2 steps behind.
It's still in test mode... so it's not perfect yet. But yes, I hope it does sell well. This game will be major make or break SE product since they've invested a lot of resources into it after 1.0's poor reception.
The thing that annoys me about the existence of the PS3 version is they've already expressed concerns about memory requirements for the PS3 version. No doubt they are having to limit the PC version now because of the PS3 specifically in the areas of character details. The PS3 will limit the about of animations each character can have and the variations in armor and weapon designs that are available. This is going to be especially apparent in future expansions as they've said they are pretty much already out of memory on the PS3 trying to get the current version of ARR up and running.
