Sorry to be such a pest about this. Can anyone help me understand the ramifications of my previous post. Thanks.I'm sorry for being so dense about this. What exactly do you mean 'redo your character creation'? I want all my class/job levels, items, gil, etc. from V1 to convert to V2. As far as coming back with the same race and physical characteristics, I don't care about that so much. Would you be so kind as to elaborate what exactly it is you mean? Thanks.
The A Realm Reborn client is completely different from the current version, so it's fine to uninstall the game if you'd like!
However, please keep in mind that it will be possible to import your current character data to the ARR character creation benchmark to play around with. So if you'd like to do that, be sure to back up your FFXIV folder located in your My Games > FINAL FANTASY XIV before uninstalling.
In reference to version 2.0 it will not have any effect. The only use of keeping the stored character data is to have the ability to import your character into the character creator benchmark.

By redo character I mean redo its looks. Hair color, size, and other things along that lines.
Final thanks to you both for helping me better understand this. I was able to recover the document files, just in case I want to use for the character creation benchmark. Hopefully, this file won't cause any issues in the beta client download. If I do have to delete it, it's nice to know there's no impact on 2.0, which was my main concern. Once, again, thanks for going out of the way and your patience in explaining this. Best regards.
Yeah, there won't be any problems. The only thing is you won't be able to use your old character as a a template for the CC benchmark.
You'll be fine, don't worry about it. Nothing about your old character except for macros was actually on your computer. Everything is saved on SE's servers, and your character porting will take place through the character attached to your SE account. You don't need anything for the benchmark except for the benchmark file which you will download from SE on your own. You're fine; take a deep breath.
When the world was young, the Sun bestowed upon me his crown; always will I light your darkest hour.
from the old beta testing at PAX 201 (sep 2010), SE let PAX members to try out the game. After you tried it, they give you a USB flash drive. Inside GM will ask players which machine and what's your char name, so he can copy the file to the flash drive. (I still think "he" is camate :O but I don't remember) Inside the flash drive there are a benchmark file and a weird character file. So, at the real start, instead of select race and stuffs, there is an option "Load Character" something like that. Then, you can get the exactly the same char you tried at demo.
Same idea, your char data also saved inside document > game> somewhere. if you lost that, then just make another one. Nothing else. Also, that's why you saw the gil sellers all looks the same because every char they just load character model and use it.
and you can started to hmm almost break NDA XDThe A Realm Reborn client is completely different from the current version, so it's fine to uninstall the game if you'd like!
