Server Transfers before Phase 3

With the flood of info, I cannot remember where, but I think it was in yesterday's letter from the producer (or maybe it was on some of the interviews?), and as I did see no thread about this yet... well then, Yoshi confirmed that before phase 3, they will announce the data center locations and will allow us old players to re pick a server.

So I just wanted to know how do you feel about that, because I was inclined not to leave Ridill, wherever it's data center is, but if everybody else migrates to regional US/EU servers it might be risky to remain there all alone if it's located in the Japan region.

Will you guys move from your old server? Will the community be remade anew (again)?

I'll be moving and I can't wait! The sooner I know the servers the better haha, got a bunch of friends who want to migrate together and it'd be nice to be able to be together at the release instead of some months later

No plans to move atm ^_^ but if I did it would be because the whole LS moved.

I'd really like to see a world map with information on what region would best benefit from each server location... For those of us in Oceania it's not clear if we would have better performance on a JP or a US server or even if there is much of a difference at all~!

Later in the beta tests they'll be opening up the data centers, might be handy to see if you can 'ping' them and see which one gives you the least delay^^. I hope you and your oceanic buddies find one that is suitable for you!

The topic was brought up a while ago but there were many compelling reasons for and against this. I was totally on the side for against lol ; ;.

I just hope/pray that we can test how we like picking a server closer to us, and if it doesn't work out or if there are problems with personal taste in the community with that server we can change to something else like an international server.

I hope this server transfer is handled like the last one, where we default into a particular server. Otherwise it's just going to be the server merge fiasco all over again.

Q46: How will the worlds from 1.0 be separated with the shift to global data centers?
A46: During Beta Test phase 3, we are planning to have players choose worlds like the world transfer in 1.0. At that time we plan on releasing information on which world will be connected to which data center.

Foxclon: ok it’s good time, this might be the last question

Yoshi: we have data centers (servers) in other regions so during phase 3 while everyone is playing we will talk to the community team and decide and will release that information. We have to see how many players are coming back as well so we have to watch all that.

EDIT: In regard to the thread title, I think they will begin making their final decision based upon the results of Phase 3, and by Phase 4/Open we would be placed on automatically OR have to choose. But I really don't know.
