I'm not sure how comparing it to GW2 is weak journalism at all. the system screams GW2. I think not mentioning it would be weak journalism.

and it's not unfair to compare them either. Guild Wars 2 is no more of a finished product than FFXIV. both were sold and will be updated over time. actually FFXIV was sold long before GW2. I'm not sure why you think 2.0 should be exempt from this kind of criticism.

I'm sure you have no problem with poorly written articles which portray ARR as amazing and totally ignore its flaws.

If 2.0 was an evolution or update or whatnot of 1.0, then perhaps, but it's not.

Good journalists can make a point on a game's own strength's and weaknesses without needing the crutch of bringing forth other games. The system doesn't scream GW2. It's been inspired to another game that came a LOT before GW2 (Warhammer Online), and from which GW2 has taken inspiration as well.

Stating that it's "copied from GW2" is simply factually false and disingenuous.

FFXIV: A realm reborn is a new game, and it didn't even start its beta yet (actually, it will today).

I have problems with EVERY poorly written article. But I have a lot more problems with articles that blatantly disrespect and mock the work of development teams (of ANY game). There's a fine line between criticism and disrespect, and this article jumped well past it.
