I think Anima was intended to help players get to gathering locations, for like parties, or events, much faster without having to waste other players time. Since its the only form of transportation besides a ferry right now, I don't see why it they wouldn't raise the cost of anima when other means of transport become available.

Chocobos and Airships will help out a lot of the hardcore gamers. The ones who has more play time available to them. The ones who are running out or out of anima. The ones who have to be careful when to even use it nowadays.

Anima should stay in the game for both types of gamers though. The casual and the hardcore. It will help out the casual gamer tons and also pitch in a hand for the hardcore gamer as well. I think both ends of transportation is pretty well thought out. That is, once they add the chocobos and airships!

It seems fair to me the person who logs in four times a week for a total of eight hours should be able to just teleport everywhere they want for there casual style. It works in my eyes. For the more hardcore gamers teleport will happen still, but just not as much.

If something is already great don't fix it. I'm always up for tweaking though and making good things even better.

I would like to see an instanced travel of sorts that includes the phantom train. it was in another thread but I'm posting it here because I believe this to be relevant to the thread and of course I think it's more likely to get looked at ^^; have it underground or in a "soul realm" of sorts and have it be an instanced encounter but it still connects all the major capitals. you get on in Ul'dah and get off in Grid that type of thing.

Also I have to agree that anima shouldn't really be touched. I didn't use it very often and I doubt I would use it at all if I were going to go level up with friends in some far off place, chocobo travel is the way to go. I do think the places you can travel to with anima should be limited. so that really you need to use alternate means of transportation to get to an area, but you can always anima teleport yourself to a main city.

Ok, thinking on the idea that when Chocobos and airships are fully intergrated, I propose this.

Why not have an anima system which allows a player 2 trips every 18 hours (every 24 hours may be a bit much, thinking use of last thing at night against when you first log in the next day). Think of it, as a famous hobbit once said "there and back again".

Tbh i think much more than that and it takes half thee point of the game out. Of course, with no other form of transport at the present time, Anina will have to do. I am speaking of course when chocobos and airships are with us

I say keep anima they way it is and add chocos and airships so you can choose your own play style.

Kill anima, let mages get teleport like all FF games. Shouting for a teleport or taking an airship always started random conversations with whoever teleported me or whoever was on the airship in XI. Made good friends that way. Anima is very antisocial.

I rip the axe from the head Covered in blood and brains Leave the body lying dead Ready to strike again
My sword cuts through clothes and skin Like a hot knife cuts through snow I smile as the bastard screams When I twist my sword
Sword in my hand Axe on my side Valhalla awaits me Soon I will die Bear skin on my back Wolf jaw on my head Valhalla awaits me When I'm dead

These are the three possibilities that run through my head.

    A.) Remove it.
    B.) Keep it.
C.) Limit the amount of locations you can teleport to, place chocobos only at starting locations of large cities/ports/key locations.

A.) Makes sense. Teleporting everywhere makes Chocobo rides and Airship rides worthless. Chocobos are not slow... Running because there is no Anima left and there are no Chocobos in the game is slow.

B.) Some people claim to be casual players and are only able to play 15-20 minutes per day (wut?).

C.) Keep it like the Anima system, but limit the locations we can teleport to. That means, no MORE places to teleport to once new areas come into play. Keep Anima for the "low level camps" and for people that want to go between the two cities to check Guildleves. Chocobos are to only be accessible from main cities or Ferry ports or key locations.

Certainly, I've tried to think about how to not spoon feed, but at the same time, make things a bit easier. Think about option C that I noted above for when the level cap raises (which is likely in the future). Sure, I'd like to be able to teleport to a camp far far away, but getting to where I need to be on a super fast chocobo is ideal to learning my surroundings in a game that has a massive and open world, such as Final Fantasy XIV, I'd rather not be spoon fed the game.

Look, I don't want the game to go by too fast. There needs to be something to slow me down. Stopping Anima usage to all locations but main cities and low level camps leaves room for us to be forced to walk/chocobo to higher level areas.

Why even make the maps gigantic if we aren't going to be forced to navigate through them? When I first saw the power of Anima, allowing me to teleport to any big camp I want... I wasn't pleased. Final Fantasy games are supposed to be time consuming in almost every aspect, are they not?

I'm serious though... Why have chocobos and airships if we're just going to teleport everywhere? My Option C sounds like a good resolve.

What makes you think this would ever be the case? There's no reason to assume that people wouldn't want to use chocobos, airships, and whatever else over teleports.

guys to understand ffxiv was designed for those with less time stop asking for silly limits or removels. outpost warping in ffxi didn't make chocobo useless neither did airships or teleports. Most of the time in ffxi i used all the travel options. If you guys want a non casual (time based) friendly game then don't play ffxi. But don't try to ruin for those who have time limits for various reasons. I used to play ffxi on a 2 hr per day limit. After a while it got to the point were I had to quit or get means to be able to play longer. As after 30, 2 hours just didn't cut it. And this was before all the fast travel was added. It was only chocobo (@ 20), teleporting (once you had the gate crystals) or airships (rank 5).

And my limit was after buying the game. My brother wanted to play it also and we shared the ps2. he got to drg 38 before quiting due to lack of time.
