I completely understand what the OP is saying and I agree with most of his comments.

I am one of the players who choose to stay and help FFXIV grow into the best MMO ever (some people will always disagree, but imo it is/will be) I do like a lot of the features and options that were originally in this game. However this game was missing so much polish and optimization that most wont put up with it. I am a game/application developer myself and understand exactly what they are going through. They are not a new company and have plenty of funding and assets to turn this game around.

I have made multiple games that looked good on paper, sounded good to test teams, even passed beta testers without issues then failed in the real world. This happens to a lot of companies. I applaud SE for taking a chance and not following (WoW, Rift, etc) I would never have played this game had it followed any of those BORING MMO's (in my opinion of course). Now lets bring on the new stuff, bring on the new challenges and take all those players from other MMO's that you can beat(do everything) in 1-3 months.

Thank you SE, Continue the good work, and please start communicating with us on a more regular basis.

Yea they have been kind of quiet as of late, But i am thinking that's due to the focus on the upcoming combat revamps, dungeon(s?), and Grand Companys and other things they have mentioned. Like last time they will probably break this silence with a dam burst of information.

I have said it all through out testing and since launch. There is a damn good game in there. It was just wrapped up in over complication and filled with half completed systems and ideas. and regrettably was shoved out onto the world stage in its underwear.

Tanaka was just a scapegoat. The only reason game have problems is that it was rushed. and only one who are responisble for that are marketing and board of directors. I dont believe any programmer/team leader/direct leadership said the game was ready. the got slaped n the face by relase date, and worked as har as could to make game as ready to that date as physically possible. game turned out buggy, broken, badly balanced and unfinished. Someone had to pay prive with his head, and most suitable is always project leader. But whats done its done, as muchas i ldislike some recent develepement (Namely Autoatack) i do hope Mister Yoshida will keep the game alive, and will turn tide. To do that however, he will had to overcome giant obstacle first: A bad reputation given to game by its unfinished state on release, which is still keep around thanx to some smarthat idiots who didnt even tried to learn game mechanic <_<.

Hmm in some way, probably yes. I like it when he just said:

"I take full responsibility for the game's current situation." I respect him for that.

If the natural disasters never hit Japan we would have had our 2 patches by now and the tension wouldn't be so high. I have to admit that I would love some more info on the patch coming up even if it's not the full notes. I know it's for preparations but what exactly are these "preparations" Yoshi-P stated.

However, I Created a new character(on a better world) so that has been surprisingly fun. If I do hit a bored streak I just go do something else.

It seems like we all are forgetting that there were multiple 8.0-9.0 earthquakes (with aftershocks occurring just after the servers came back up), a devastating tsunami, and multiple nuclear reactor explosions in Japan over the last month. CUT THE DEV TEAM SOME SLACK. WE ARE LUCKY WE ARE PLAYING THE GAME AT ALL. If these things wouldn't have happened we would have gotten our updates on time and I'm sure Yoshi's letters wouldn't be so vague, but they did happen and there's nothing the players or the dev team can do about it. Bottom line is they're hard at work while their country is in near shambles, trying to get us the stuff that we want. Forgive them if they take a little longer than they should. No one has control over this stuff in times like these, everyone just has to grit their teeth and bare it. Trust me I'm frustrated too, I want this game to get better too, but there's nothing anyone can do but wait right now. That is all.

I love how ppl pull the "devs had no time to make content" when it was really server stability issues that didn't help the game out. Yet ppl forget ffxiv had unstable servers through out beta causing multiple weeks of cancled time. So they got stuck fixing the bug and ended uo to launch it just to stablize the servers enough but also met with many issues and just was unable to really add much because of it. That why that had a team change because they couldn't fix the problems. And what was in game wasn't resieved well so they much change it again. if ppl liked at least some of the game content woulda already been added

you can't add too much content of you have to rewite the rules of battle and how we fight. After this massive change content will be added more frequently. Unless you guys complain more about other stuff.

so in a way the players are causing the delays since they hated stuff and demanded change.

5+ years of development and 0 content isn't because of server stability issues. Games being developed today in much less time have multiple raid zones and dungeons. There is no excuse for releasing such a bare bones game from a well established game company that has 10x the resources.
