I hope it's not a rebranded Versus
Some things that I like:
Headphone jack in the controller
Being able to "plug and play" downloaded games instead of downloading them and going to bed, hoping your connection doesn't skip while you're sleeping.
Suggested games feature.
Pause button that retains your place in the game even when it is powered off.
Updating the software even then it is powered off
Auto-recording. You'll never miss anything again. :3
Try before you buy, downloaded games.
The FF title will either be Versus XIII, or FF XV, or Versus XIII re-branded as XV.
10 characters
Pretty sure FFXV will be announced this year. That means it'll probably be 2.5 years away from actually coming out. Which gives ARR plenty of time to make their PS4 port and alleviate the possible confusion about FF14 coming out on PS4 AFTER FFX15 :P
(This of course is all assuming ARR is successful)
I thought the option to hand the game off to a friend of yours to get you past a difficult spot was a neat feature too. Some things that I like:

I see they didn't try at all to confirm or deny the used games things or whether or not games you already own would work on the new console. Of course you'd save those juicy tidbits closer to release of the console and not during it's major unveiling.
Gut feeling tells me you're going to have to buy anything that isn't downloaded from their cloud services.
Also, Diablo 3 on PS4? I wonder how many copies of that trainwreck they think they're actually going to sell.

There is no way XV will be an MMO. Developing one at a time is hard enough. SE would not be able to sustain all three (XI, XIV, and XV) with stable subscription profits at once.
Disappointing announcement but pretty much par the course for Square Enix recently. Aside from the work on 2.0, their other projects have been ho-hum at best. Honestly, since the launch of the PS3 I feel as if Japanese developers have been severely restricted by the high cost of producing a game.
In the 90's and early 2000's quality RPG's were constantly being churned out. With the high cost of producing and properly marketing a game in this day and age, its not surprising to see the Japanese devs targeting handhelds.
Imagine the business Sony and Square would do with a Chrono Trigger/Cross sequel as a launch title for PS4. Or even a FFVI or VII remake.
As the years go on and the technology advances, I really find myself longing for the simpler SNES and PSOne eras. Games were simply that. Games.
I hope more than anything FFXIV is successful. I want more people to play with! Ragnarok server was not super happening the whole time I was on it.Pretty sure FFXV will be announced this year.
