I know there has been speculation about this before but I never paid much attention to it as there was no specific news about PS4 actually being released.
I think the difference with FF11 was that PS3 wasn't out yet when FF11 was released but it doesnt seem to be the case with FF14.
There is a little Monkey in all of us....

One thing at a time, my friends. Let's actually see the console announcement first.

No reason for there not being a PS4 release, but don't expect it too look any (if at all) better than the PC version with max quality settings.
Remember that Square Enix has already experimented with the next gen console (Agni's Philosophy tech demo) and considering Square Enix is a major developer it's safe to presume they're among the first few studio's to have received devkits.

I think it'd be better off staying on PC and PS3. If it were going to be on any other extra consoles, then WiiU would be best only if they find a way to make all the menus and such on the tablet controller.
I really would enjoy that. The Wii U Gamepad is one of the best controllers I've used in a long time. Kind of surprised me given how awkward and huge the thing looked from videos. Doubt that'll ever happen though, SE probably wouldn't want DQX and FFXIV to compete against one another.

FF15 announcement tonight I reckon.
Launch title for PS4, with Crash Bandicoot HD and Ridge Racer 8
Lol
Shall we dig up the old FF7 on Ps4 in HD debate?

I know you're not being too serious, but... I can't imagine S-E would overshadow the big press release for ARR with the announcement for XV. (X|V?!) I hope that's a way off yet...
However, I'm kinda expecting X|V to be announced as a launch title for the PS4, because the PS4 will have 100% backwards compatibility, so the architecture will mean that X|V will run on both PS3 & PS4 with very little difficulty (I can dream!).
That, or there'll be nothing about S-E at all... *cry* Eight hours until the live stream for the event begins!
I think the question to make is, will PS2/3 games be compatible with PS4? I still don't understand all the lack of compatibility.

Playstation Network says hi. Game companies make nothing from the constant second-hand trade of games. If they can sell it as digital download, they'll jump on it (see the Final Fantasy series). It's a lot better for them and Sony this way.
