I however did not need to call them. There may be a discrepancy that they will need to resolve or verify your account details.

To be honest, I was confused by the date of birth reference because there is no where on the Square Enix Account management that allows you to set your Date of Birth?! Oh well. They fixed my issue. All is right in the world again!

The date of birth is what everyone must put in when you first sign up your account... You probably forgot about it because the only two things that can never be changed is your SE ID and your date of birth... so if you wrote an incorrect date of birth and do not remember what date you put then you might need to call SE, probably to give other confidential info...
