Well since SE hasn't actually confirmed anything other than the fact we will get to re-make our character (and probably be able to re-name), there are still many variables when it comes to the server situation. None of that has been stated, believe me, I am obsessed with it lol.
I found a few rep posts, but still could not find the specific one I was looking for which did refer to the fact that they really don't know yet and were waiting on results from later Beta phases (especially how many characters who are actually located on old servers but have not been active, but may end up returning, and possibly creating too many people) in order to determine how we will be placed at relaunch.
Also, there is still the possibility that we will be prompted to select a server at launch with our 1.0 character.
The portion you quoted is specifically referring to the fresh "New Player" servers that we plan to introduce and that only fresh starting new characters will be able to join (whether that's a completely new player, or a brand new character of a returning player) and this restriction will be in place for a specific period of time (not yet finalized).here something i read on the french forum. It's not a question about lag but economy. Your server turn EU and your NA, then so sorry your stuck with it.
"Our goal with the implementation of dedicated servers for new players is to create a world where the economy has no history. Therefore, players "Legacy" will not receive an option to transfer their characters "v1" to these servers from the release of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
New players will be able to create new characters on the servers of players "Legacy" to join them. This option will be available as long as the maximum server population will not be reached. Similarly, players "Legacy" will create a new character on dedicated servers to new players.
We are not yet able to confirm what stage during beta your characters will be permanently associated with the servers on which you are. We will share information once the schedule is finalized."
It goes on to say that new players will be able to join existing/established worlds as long as there is room on the world, but that old, returning players cannot move to the brand-new "new player" worlds.
Hopefully that clears it up!
Greetings!
I have a bit of follow up information in regards to world selection when A Realm Reborn begins.
For those of you that have friends that are not currently playing and you would like them to play with you, rest easy knowing that new players will be able to select the existing worlds instead of the newly created worlds. However, in the case that there is a large amount of people who come back to the game and the world reaches it population cap, the regular rules will apply and there is a possibility that we will suspend new character creation on these worlds.
Also, for current players, it will be possible to create a new character on the new worlds. However, existing players will not be able to move to these new worlds for a certain period of time.I know you are asking about what will happen to version 1.0 characters, but we're currently working on finalizing the plans and will need to wait until it has been decided on before we can share details. Once that's done, we'll be sure to let you know.
As for server transfers in general, we are planning to implement the ability to change servers and we'll share more information as soon as it becomes available. So anyway, just throwing that out there.
which google translates to:
Firstly, I would like to apologize for the delay in my response and I hope that my message will reassure you.
As explained above, new servers will be available for new players, and those servers will be reserved for new characters only.
However, players "Legacy" will not necessarily forced to stay on servers located in Japan and can play on another server closest to them.
Unfortunately, I can not provide all the details concerning the implementation of servers, but more information will be communicated as soon as possible.
And this is what I'm referring to.However, players "Legacy" will not necessarily forced to stay on servers located in Japan and can play on another server closest to them.
we wont' be "forced" to stay, but we will be there if we don't choose otherwise.
I had created my own post before searching so i thought i would add my post here instead.
It has been known for quite some time that they are making regional servers. They are keeping the older servers and creating new servers that our old characters cannot transfer to.
My question is:
Where in the physical world will all the older servers be located? Will they all stay in Japan? Are they going to be moving the servers with a higher NA or EU population closer to the their own region?
Server Selection: Option 2
I hope this is how its handled anyway
Technically I think the older servers will physically become new servers (new hardware). Most ppl believe those 10 old servers (although new hardware) will be located in Japan, and that the additional servers added will be in the new regions. But the truth is, no one really knows. Well, we do know they have reworked the servers to reduce the lag issues that plagued 1.0. I would assume this will also make it so a US player playing on a JP server hopefully wont notice any problems (IE Ifrit Plumes). Creating the regional servers was to reduce this lag as well as hopefully create stronger communities. So I don't think we will need to be on a local regional server just to run the game optimally.Technically I think the older servers will physically become new servers (new hardware). What we do know is that our existing characters are associated with <insert server here that contains all the characters that were on the same server you were on before>. What we don't know is if all of these servers will remain located in Japan- which is uncertain but highly likely- i doubt they'd transport either the physical hardware or the data to other locations.Technically I think the older servers will physically become new servers (new hardware). Server: 2
Region: 2
Figured somebody should respond the way the OP requested before we hit page 5.
