A guess a little personal input wouldn't be remiss to make it feel like you're actually an active participant. But is it really so bad to be a silent observer, anyway? I think it's a bit better than being pandered to and treated like The Chosen one all the time. Obviously some kind of middle-ground between the two extremes might be ideal also but sometimes being the center of attention actually seems out of place in the context of the stories given and comes off a little cheesy.

The SW:TOR pick-your-path dialogue trees would be nice to have, but maybe a waste of time when you think about it.

I don't want my character talking for me... I hate it in the Starwars MMO ... I have a picture in my head how my character sounds. Don't force your own voice on me.

    +1

I couldn't have said that better myself.

The best kinds of RPGs are the ones that allow you to step into the shoes of the protagonist through who's eyes you experience the world of the game. If our characters are given voices to speak as the NPCs do, that will put up a barrier between us and our protagonist. It would be almost no different from reading a book.

We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.

While I'm not too sure about voice. Having grunts, gasps and such similar emote stuff might help. I liked that in the 1.0 benchmark and was sad they didn't continue it in the cutscenes in game.

People who talk and go crazy about voice acting/SWTOR should take a good breath, exhale all the negativity then read OP again.

On topic, like many others said, I'd like my character to be a bit more involved in CS however I wouldn't want it to have dialogues. I understand in another game type that the character personality is important, but in a MMO I would be disappointed reading Seyra talking like "Hi five Miounne, look wuta found fo' ya in da forrrest!" or any gimmick the dev Team thinks is suitable for each race/gender.

Characters have dialogues in my head and they say them the way I want them to. A bit more initiative and action is welcome though. Let's see what Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has to offer =)

During cut scenes, I prefer bigger roles for our characters instead of just being the extra in the cast.

A good example of what not to do is like the character you make in White Knight Chronicles. You don't even need him, but he is there in the cut scenes anyway. lol

I hope that's an example of what not to do. Only near the end does the story even begin to acknowledge your role in the group as "Leonard's friend.". It took dlc to flesh out more of your story. DLC the US never got...
