I think I should clarify just what I meant by 'spoken dialogue' though - I wasn't actually referring to actual vocal conversations, but basically text based dialogue in the chat log, like a regular NPC.

Considering there was little actual spoken NPC dialogue in 1.0 (only in a few main scenario cutscenes), I don't think 2.0 is going to even give NPCs much spoken lines, if any. Hence spoken dialogue by player characters in cutscenes would just be out of place. Text based player-character dialogue in cutscenes would be a much better fit, even if it is old-school.
