Oh yes, that is what I meant. An example of what not to do. lol

Don't know why, but this popped in my head, despite not relating to cutscenes.

If flouisoix had a VO it should be Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen

SE could avoid Bioware's failings by only voicing NPCs and keep the player as a silent protogonist.
But i'd rather resources go into other things considering in SWTOR, everyone skips speech with the spacebar in any party quest or raid coz they are so impatient, and half the speech in SWTOR is just alien speak so..., Furthermore, the cutscenes in SWTOR are so boring just close up shots of characters standing talking, in FF at least we have more action orientated CS's.
I would like more options in CS's though to make the outcomes more personal, and opening up more optional quests. I think more resources should therefore go into the writing rather than spreading the finances/resource over into VO.

Well it's not impossible. Look at persona 3 and 4... in fact look at all of the persona series. All of the main characters basically never said a word but we did get option of dialogue to choose from. In fact maybe they can have more dialogue in the storyline for different endings?

I think we all have our own voiceover track for when we're playing X|V. For instance:
When something shocking happens, "No way..."
When something frustrating happens, "No way!"
When we get something good, "NO WAY!"
When we wipe because the paladin D/C'd when just entered the battlefield for Ifrit and the WHM has been AFK for ages and the DRG just saunters up to him and starts poking at him and the bard you brought along just to be nice has no idea where to stand and you just go, "NO. ****ING. WAY."

i personally don't mind the silence of my character. i always feel like i'm really the main man in my story either way.
as for cut scene voices in general, i was always saying this even b4 the game launched and for swtor. it's like how do you add voice and keep up with it. eventually they will stop using it and it will be a huge sign of game getting cheap and losing lots of people. and look at that we already lost voice in ffxiv b4 it really got a real launch lol. bad sign but also expected.

There is literally no reason to like Vaan. He's just there. He wasn't even originally going to be the main character.
I wouldn't mind some more text-only dialogue options, especially if they had any noticeable consequences besides being elaborate "yes/no"s. But I wouldn't want someone voicing my character or giving him too much of a predetermined personality. It would be unavoidably lame, and counter to what I'd play an MMO to experience.
I'll take silence over having my character say he's so hungry he could eat an octorock.
