After looking at many of the post here I think the thread title should have been "Breaking Norm,The Pretty People playing FFXIV" Since the norm is the cheeto dusted, beer stain shirts and such with the poxed faces (what everyone else thinks what gamers look like) lol Edit: I mean the nongamers of the world XD

It's hardly a norm that gamers are fat, with pimples, and stained clothes
Look at any SC, WoW, LoL, whatever tournaments for example, most people there look quite good.

Yeah, while some may fit the bill, most are not. People get it into their heads that someone sitting down to play video games as much as some people do, they HAVE to be fat and such. They don't look outside of that whatsoever.

Besides, in a mixed community as FFXIV is, there's also less chance that the stereotype becomes predominant. Take that as you will. . . .

Why would XIV have a more mixed community than others?
The communities in all other games i been part of, have had their fair share of hotties too.
It's only at blizzcon that you find massive amount of *real* game nerds

I took it to mean that XI/XIV may have a more international/culturally diverse player base? Idk I've only played these 2 games and I'm in Florida (i.e.: I am not culturally diverse ). /shrug

That's usually not an issue; In many cases EU ppl can play on US servers; and it seems many do just that, so US servers become international ones
I'd rather play on some EU based server, for better ping; but if it's good connection, playing on some US server would be fine too. Though it sux that US based raids usually happen in middle of the night for me then

Depending on where you're from, it's not always easy finding an imported copy of a game, although it's less of an issue with the digital downloads these days.

My original FFXI I imported from the US (it wasn't out in Europe yet at the time), but by the time Europe got an official FFXI release, practically no store would sell me US expansion packs. I ended up getting mine from someone I met in-game, who was kind enough to buy a copy and mail me the key.
