    Cover Ability?

So I've a question regarding this particular ability. From my limited experience with it, it doesn't seem to work as I would think it's intended. I've also spoken to other GLDs and they don't know if there is some specific instruction with it or not to make it "work." So the question I pose is that is there anyone who can explain how this ability works and/or if there is a particular setup (positioning, et cetera) that needs to be applied in order for it to work correctly? I've used it in party situations where a mob is going after another person who has had an enmity spike, but it seemed to have absolutely no effect. It doesn't seem to work in the same manner as it had been known to in FFXI. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have only got this ability today and havent tried it out yet, i did presume i would be like in FFXI where you positioned yourself in front of the person, i will try it out and see what happens when i get chance.

I've used it. I think it increases their defense. The discription doesn't tell you much and position in battle has nothing to do with it

Cover - The Gladiator passes between an enemy and teammate to intercept the attack.

    Name:
    Cover

    Description:
Come to the aid of another, positioning yourself between the target and an enemy to redirect damage to yourself instead.

    Jobs:
    GLA, Rank 22

    Recast Time:
    60

In FFXI it was you who took the hit instead of the other player (you would cover them) i am presuming it works like that..if not no idea.

what luluna said it right, its exactly like XI and inside the tooltip it even says
positioning yourself between the target and an enemy to redirect damage to yourself instead.

where you'll use it, that's another matter since most high lvl mobs have frontal cone moves, so sure it'll save who ever is behind you from melee attacks but not the WS from the mob.

I agree with wind, it should be like this. But it isn't. For me, it increases enmity but I haven't noticed any other effect, no matter how the positioning.

I duo using cover. It's definitely not a lifesaver but it does work. When duo'ing I line up close, and my partner is right behind me. If she yanks too much hate; or, in it's infinite wisdom, decides it's her turn to get mashed, I pop cover and it helps a little. I imagine it's going to end up much like PLD cover in XI was. Useful in odd small group situations; but you'll never end up building a major strat around it.

Sidenote, the animation rarely plays for me when I cover. Maybe... 1/3 times?
