βeta tomorrow?! [ 明日? !] One more day?????

I think just knowing the date for the Beta will ease every ones minds. It is the stress of not knowing that is tearing every one of us asunder! It's like there is a rift between us in the pessimistic and optimistic sides of the community.

I completely understand why they wait as long as they can, but you are right its very hard dealing with the anticipation, lol. Especially since every other MMO I've been playing since 1.0 has grown stale to me (they all seem so hollow compared to FF).

Sometimes I feel like they know it will just keep us logging in and talking about the game...you know, the old donkey and carrot routine. :P

Not really, since they said mid feb, mid feb has passed already, 18th more so.

If monday is a holiday everywhere, why would SE be working? o.O

Waiting like this for a beta that is for specific hours of testing makes me glad im a stay at home house wife lol

I still think we will see a Benchmark before we get beta invites though.

not really, you can get beta invite first, benchmark after, or most likely at same time; and then beta starts later. it was just stated that bench would be released shortly before beta starts.

are you assuming the day the emails go out is also the day the test begins? I personally don't think that will happen because the beta won't be on 24 hours it will be only be on for 8 hours max. In that case they won't start the beta the same day as invites go out to give everyone time to download it. Second it would be off to give everyone the beta on monday and start it on tuesday since they beta is expected to be two weeks long. So unless they plan to make it 13 days it would seem odd to have monday as the last day to play. Third now given the first and second reason, also consider the live letter next week. This is just an assumption but I think yoshida wants to preview some aspects of the beta phase 1 in the live letter like he's done before. So for that he'll need players. So the 15th make the sense to release the invites. Whether they decide to do that or have it end one day early is up to them.

Fail logic here: there's no *expected* duration of beta; aside from that it says between 1-2 weeks, so it's not stranger that it would just run 13 days, 11, 5, or 15 days days. 2 weeks is worst case scenario, and i don't know why you or they would *expect* a worst case scenario. 1 week if things run smoothly; and then it points out that times are subject to change anyways.
Also Monday as last day makes sense, cause people could play over weekend, then when SE gets back to work on Monday, they close servers, and start debugging phase. But as i stated earlier, i don't know why people are so stuck on mondays...they can start/end beta whatever day of the week. It's not like they would postpone beta to next Mon, just cause they finished it on Wed.

Hello again to all of you eagerly awaiting FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Yoshi-P here, and I survived my flight, allowing me to bring you the forty-third Letter from the Producer from San Francisco! (I don't know why I have to fly everywhere. )

I'm sorry for taking so long to put up this letter, but the news you've all been waiting for is finally here. Assuming no dastardly bugs or server errors slow us down, phase 1 of the beta test will begin on February 25!

The roadmap we released has the schedule set for mid-February, so the start is about a week late. However, the extra time has allowed us to prepare more system features and character options for testing. While you all enjoy the game, I hope you also provide us with tons of feedback like you did during the alpha test.

People you probably setting yourself up for disappointment if you think the beta will start any sooner then Feb. 25 at the earliest.

Since Yoshi and some of the dev team is on tour doubt they will start it when he is away. He still has that live letter to talk about the beta on the 22nd.

they might as well have sent out invites during media tour. and people could have started playing earlier; and he could have talked about beta during beta. They posted Alpha vids during entire alpha, and had live letters during alpha. so there's no logical reason to postpone beta, just because somehow he needs to have live letter before that.
People may argue that it's better if Yoshi is at office, when they start it; and i guess that makes sense...but really, they aren't crippled without him. They could have set a plan for opening beta beforehand.
Now the reason it was postponed was because they took some extra time to polish, and add some extra stuff for us to try, so it didn't really have anything to do with live letter, or media tour.

I'm disappointed that I have only two days to play Beta before I get whisked off to places unknown, but I agree with them cramming as much testing as they can in each phase, so I'm not complaining about it. We have enough eager testers to do the job. I hope they continue to have that mindset of testing and adding and testing all throughout even if further delays are announced.

invite are being send out today so it seem like the beta forums may open soon at least i hope
