When I played Tera, many times I wish it was more dynamic in the sense to have the ability to change jobs, because not everyone wants to create more than 1 character for a class. At least I did not enjoy that. I was a Warrior, but felt I wanted to switch to a Priest when it was needed. To become more useful, and give me something else to do other than gather or craft, while remaining on my main character. Now, this is not like Tera by any means. And not like XI either, but I like to have the ability to switch roles when its needed. Sure, a lot has to be changed, and its unfortunate that people's ability to switch jobs on the spot makes them less 'specialized' in their roles, but having the versatility to do and be what you want is what I believe makes this game unique and fun. Also, if players care enough about how they play or what they do, playing multiple classes will not degrade their performance. Just takes a little practice to know exactly how to play their job.

You have the choice to play 1 class/job in XIV anyways, but meanwhile it also gives people the ability to enhance and take their skills further by leveling and equipping skills across the board. Sure, it makes you 'gimp' in the eyes of many players if you only have 1 class capped, and may limit how much you can get done, but I wouldn't let that affect your gaming experience. I'm so glad Final fantasy overall has this feature, as it would change how it appeals and how it feels to people (me in specific) if it was restricted to 1 class per character.

Another thing I love about having 1 character + many classes is that it keeps all your achievements and progress on 1 character. Everyone you know, all your friends, your name, everything stays the same. One thing I was not comfortable with while playing other games that required you to level multiple alts for a single class was that my name changed, i had to redo everything all over, it was a lot more time consuming for me, it felt repetitive. I rather dedicate 10 years of my life to 1 character (maybe 2) than redo all the repetitive things (such as quests, achievements, crafts, gathering, etc) on multiple classes. It took me from start to finish (release to end of era) to get everything to 50, but thats all I did. I crafted, I gathered, I healed, I fought, I had the whole experience on 1 character. Imagine if people had to do all that on multiple characters in XIV? the horror just thinking about it lol.

As it has been mentioned earlier, XIV just has a lot to its name. A lot of Lore, a lot of things to do, the community is big enough, everything just feels right to have 1 character + multiple classes. It's how it was designed, and I believe it works. It fits. Thats how I feel about it.
