Job changing has been a running possibility in the FF series, and although I agree that some characters (like Tifa) seems to be more appropriate for some job (like monk) there is no definite obligation for most of the FF as stated before.

Having to use only one avatar and being able to do everything with it it THE thing that got me into playing FFXI and XIV, creating a much deeper attachment to said avatar. I would not trade this for the world.

Even if I can play any class correctly, my LS mates now me as a monk player, and for most of my LS mate we all have one or two job that we main and at which we are at our best (with the possibilities, if we need of feel like a change to play something else entirely), this did not prevent us from clearing all of 1.0 content, relic and white earrings included.

The multi-job per character system is somewhat fairly unique and a strong selling point for the game I believe. It also means you are less likely to get bored / sick of your character.

MMO's with single-job systems tend to have players with many different characters and people "cap" or "max" their characters rather quickly. I also believe multi-job systems increase the longetivity of the game as it's not about levelling 5 different characters on different jobs, but it's about maxing out 1 character in every way possible.

I don't mind having multiple jobs, what bothers me is being able to cap all of them in a month.

completely agreed. i don't mind being ale to level every job, but you shouldn't be able to cap every class in the game within a month like you could do at the end of 1.0. if they drastically slow down leveling it will take care of itself post level cap increase because less will get all leveled beyond 50, but the current speed is beyond crazy.

What I always liked on FF was the fact that I felt very bounded with my Charakter. In other games where you have to create for every job a new toon I never had this feeling.

This I don't agree with. It is more traditional to be able to change jobs in the FF series.

    No.
    Just no.
Having all jobs on 1 character is what sets this game apart form all others.

What skinwalker and Altena said. Here're my thoughts on it OP.

When I play an RPG, I make one character and only one character. This allows me to pour myself into that character, which makes me feel connected to both the game and the character itself. In games where I'm forced to play as only one class, I'm then forced to only play as one character, because the second I make an alt, I lose all connection to the game. It then becomes a game of "How many alts can you make." See GW2 for an example of this. In that game, once you've chosen your class, you're locked to it.

I completely disagree that being locked to one job is an inherent Final Fantasy trait as well as being something necessary for enjoyment. It seems like it's a trait you picked from a couple of past Final Fantasy games, but it's certainly not the standard, especially considering there's no real standard among the series to begin with. In the Final Fantasy Tactics games, you're allowed to freely change between classes and jobs whenever you feel like, and even though it may not have as rich a character roster as the rpg games, they still were an absolute blast to play simply because your team was truly yours; all the skills they know and weapons they used were because you made it that way.

In short, forcing us to play as a single class is easily one of the quickest ways to alienate a big part of the playerbase. It's a relic feature that really has no place in FFXIV. Locking us to one class in Yoshi's amusement park would turn the game from something grand into just another throwaway MMO, like GW2 or TERA.

I have to say with 100% no to 1 job per character, this is truly where FF mmos have always done things better then everyother mmo out there. Honestly I cannot belive no other mmo has copied this yet.

It gives dept to your character, real meaning and attachment behind it. I am not Xatsh, XatshV, Xatshtwo, Xatshthree in a final fantasy mmo. I am also not forced to do the same quest a billion times, since I am not a fan of questing that is a plus for me.

It gives more longevity honestly because the time it takes to cap out a character is multiplied 15-20 fold in a ff mmo, this is a good thing.

The only potential issue I see with this is the solo questing and casuals who want to avoid grouping all together, I do not get it but apparently that is the new thing in multi-player games. I do not see how SE can possibly add enough quest to level everything on 1 character even WoW after all the expansions cannot suppor that with its quest. For these players they might have to level alts, but honestly it is a option already.
