I like frog

One of the reason I loved XI and XIV over other MMO's is that I could play all the jobs on one char. I really would hate to have to make a char for each job. NO THANKS!!! ^^

i hate all the other mmo's where you have to reroll. one character makes it more personal, it gives you a better community and bond with players. as for just wanting less people with the option to not need you then i say ..lol screw that. some people will level all jobs. just don't play with them, i think that is the biggest reason people want to be different then others in mmo's. guess what, having everything leveled is the difference.
I like knowing the fact that I only have to work on one character and that's it. There's no need to make different characters, do everything you just did all over and then rinse and repeat. I like knowing that once I'm able to do it I'm able to do it on whatever Job I'd like. Being able to switch Jobs on the fly (although, you won't be able to change them in dungeons) makes me feel more reliant and more wanted. If someone needs a WHM then I can be one. BRD? Not a problem. I'm a person of many traits: I like to do them all. I know some friends in 1.0 that only did 1 or 2 Jobs at most. You can always do that if you'd like, but you'd definitely be limited in groups unless you have that permanent spot as said Job.
I love this system. I loved it in XI and I'll love it here. This is a system I've been wanting for a long time and I can finally have it in a game that I enjoy the most.

Amen! This really is a make or break for me. If they start restricting the ability to cap all classes I seriously doubt I would be around for long.I like knowing the fact that I only have to work on one character and that's it. There's no need to make different characters, do everything you just did all over and then rinse and repeat. I like knowing that once I'm able to do it I'm able to do it on whatever Job I'd like.
Even though I've leveled all of the jobs... You tend to get stuck with one that everybody associates you with... Like mine is White Mage. *Against my will actually I wanted to be a Paladin ;-;*

I enjoy being able to swap classes with one character.
With that said, I feel it worked well in FFXI because of the daunting time sink of leveling a job. (back when the cap was 75, mind you). Back then it was easy to associate a player name to a particular job. You became known for being a ranger or a paladin or a red mage, etc. Many players had that particular job that they poured everything into and it became who they were.
FFXIV lacks that feeling and iconic association with its players. Who knows, maybe ARR will change it up but 1.0 had no real depth when it came to people specializing in one area. Most of the time it felt like everyone was a jack of all trades yet master of none.
Personally I would like to see in the future a sort of merit or specializing system in the sense that it would push players to become experts at one or two jobs and just mediocre or decent at the rest. That way everyone could still do every job, however someone specialized in a job you are not would perform slightly better. You could even maybe go a step further as to have some top tier gear be restricted to those that have that advancement in the class it would belong to.
Same with crafting..Though it is nice to be able to level all crafts to cap and make absolutely anything...I think players should be forced to choose a path. For example choose metalworking and you can be an advanced blacksmith / armorer. Or even when they release a new level cap...maybe have it so players have to make a choice which they would like to be a master in.
Being self reliable and able to do everything is nice for a while...however I feel it completely draws away from the social experience of interacting with other players.
