Part of the reason I dislike voice chat is because I have a family (I am a parent not the child lol) and playing with headphones and a mic is not conducive to playing around my family unless its way late at night.

Its funny the amount of people who say things like "Mumble or GTFO" but they have no concept of the type of different playing environments being used. I think they must be loners who sit in a room and yell at the computer all night. I enjoy playing ffxiv socially (with other people watching, commenting) and that's hard to do if you're glued to you mic/headphones.
Same sitch for me. The noise my PC fan makes and the tapping/clicking of the inputs is sometimes enough to wake my toddlers up. Talking after 8pm (curiously when my gaming time starts...) is a big no-no. Am happy to listen, but all these non-English English-speaking accents mucking up my earhole confuses me.
