    Well, from my experience in video games, it usually means you either display something (Display: ON) or Hide it (Display: Off). Which beings us back to Mychael's question: Why would you want to hide your shield?

    Same way you could hide your main hand. It would only be visible if your character drew their weapon, and putting it away would keep it hidden so you don't have to look armed all the time.

    I never messed with off hand commands, so I can't remember that being an option.
