Well for starters, if you're a publisher, or graphic designer, knowing how to operate one is almost a requirement, since they are pretty standard in those industries. Apple OS has a reputation for being quite stable as well, though god help you if something does go wrong with it.

I tend to prefer Windows myself, since I've owned enough PCs over the years to know how to fix some of the usual problems and quirks on my own. Some apps made for both platforms can have slightly different functions as well. (i.e. Dreamweaver CS6 works pretty much the same way whether you go PC or Mac, but the PC version can import Word files directly into your web page, rather than copy-pasting like you would with the Mac.)

All in all, it's really more an individual's matter of preference rather than which platform is better.

I installed OS X in a VM and used it for 3 hours and had a crash, but from what I saw "someone who is good with computers, but pretty much the first time on OS X) and what ever you do you are chained down, you can have 2 colours for the theme, nothing else if Linux is a country with no rules or laws and you can do anything you want, OS X is a prison you do what the warden Mr. Apple wants and not much else, to complete this analogy Windows is like most countries with laws you have freedom but there are certain thing you aren't allowed to do.

OS X is the most locked down OS I have seen.

Software compatibility. You use the OS that has the support for the applications you need the most.

Anything Mac can do, Linux can do better as long as you hold its hand every step of the way.

The graphic design, photo/video editing, and publishing apps on Linux are superior if and only if you know how to make them work.

But most liberal arts majors are real good at liberal arts, but not good with computers. So they use Macs. /shrug

The thing with Linux is there is a distro for everything (almost), if you want an OS you can make into what you want, get Ubuntu, Fedora or Kubuntu, if you want penetration testing get backtrack, you want an extremely lite version get damn small linux, Mythbuntu has packages to act as a media center, Ubuntu Studio for multimedia creation, aimed at audio, graphic and video editors.

Where as Windows is DOS with a GUI.

I get a badass computer that's still going to be faster than yours, that's what.

BTW, what innovation is their in the PC industry?

    imac
    27-inch: 3.2GHz 1.900$ without upgrade

    vs

    AMD Base Computer
    Two video card
    16GB Ram
    Water cooling
    27-inch 3D monitor

same imac but with upgrade 4,249.00$

    Vs

    Intel base computer
    4 video card
    32GB Ram
    3 Monitor 3D
    Water cooling

So how is Imac better? with the price of the upgrade version i can build over 4-5 computer that would be faster and better then one imac.

    I hope your trolling.

I have a MacPro. Not an iMac.

If you can find some low cost Xeon pre-built workstations, I'll be very very impressed.

Considering the labor involved in putting a PC together, the cost would eclipse the price of an iMac. Not to mention the cost of a one year parts/labor warranty.

I know there is nothing I could ever possibly say or do that would make people who don't want to understand understand, so I am obviously not going to try. It's always been like this unfortunately.

LOL! Wait what? The cost of the labor involved in putting a PC together would eclipse the price of an iMac? I gave it a thought for a moment, but I really can't figure out whatever the fuck are you talking about. O_o Maybe you mean the 30-ish mins tops that it would take to build one having the parts to do it? 'cause, you know... that's not that hard nor does it take that long, so... wtf?

And the cost of a one year warranty on parts? Which, those that sometimes come with lifetime warranties (like some PSUs and EVGA GPUs)? And all of that would eclipse the cost of an incredibly overpriced desktop pc with underpowered laptop parts?

    I... I don't even
