Makes me wonder, what about mexican food? Is that expensive there too?

Mexican food in Japan is quite rare, and not very good IMO.

I can only think of El Torito which has a few locations, and maybe Zest which is a tex-mex sort of pub. No Taco Bell or any other major Mexican food chains. =(
