This sounds as though we will not be able to:

    - Buy armor for leveling a class 1-10
    - Use armor, acquiring level 10 in said class
    - Repair and resell used armor

This is an issue for me. What do I do when I have no more use for it? Must I toss it or sell it to NPC for a paltry amount, or will I be able to eliminate the binding and sell/give it to others? Alternatively, does this only apply to certain items, or this a widespread change across all equip-able items?

No you won't be able to unbind it once its bound.

You people don't read. Most low level gear will come from questing you will have gear coming out the wazuu you will be selling it to a npc a lot because you will keep getting better items as quest rewards. Yoshi-P's design choice was a large amount of leveling quests to support their questing system as the main way to get exp from what i seen in the videos most every quest earns you a piece of gear, which is great for your leveling. Its only when you get to end game does crafting gear become a huge deal.

At level cap they wanted to make it so the marked isn't flooded with items so it binds when you use it and is taken out of the economy.

If you run through all the quests in the game have so much low level gear you don't need and could resell it would it really be worth that much? Everyone else would be doing the same thing reselling all their quest gear but nobody would be buying it because they are running though the same quests getting the same gear. So you just dump it off at the npc anyway.

You don't actually buy your leveling gear its free from quest givers. I know this is hard to understand if the only MMOs you played are FFXI and FFXIV.

I see everyone's concern about equipment and being unable to resell and or give to friends however its really not that bad and if you think about the entire picture you can see that reselling your gear isn't the only thing to do with your old gear.

For instance Devs. have already said that converting Melded gear into materia will result in stronger materia as a result, how strong? That info is unknown but they aren't going to make it worthless to convert your melded gear.

Gifting to your friends wont change just instead of gifting them the gear you gift them matts you have picked up on your travels to have the gear made.

When your leveling and you find better gear to use you simply turn the old stuff into materia and apply that materia to the new gear, with getting better materia from melded gear you will progressively get better and better materia as you continue to level meld and break gear nothing is lost.

This benefits crafters a whole lot because gear will be needed all the time. And you wont have the same piece of gear circulating endlessly meaning that those same crafters will have to continue to make gear melds and put in AH to keep supply high giving them a porpoise.

Yes people that do not want to spend money will just level a craft and make it themselves but you can do that even if things didn't bind so that doesn't change. There will always be preferred melds over dungeon gear that's never going to change and I doubt that SE is going to make dungeon gear be all end all. Demand will always be there now for all levels of gear and for those who like the extra umph melding low level gear will also be very desirable.

Maybe I am reading into this wrong or something but from what it seems it will be harder to transfer items from person to person which isn't to great. The great thing about older MMOs before a lot of this binding was you can share and let friends borrow equipment and it allowed for more person to person interactions.

If we can't lend/borrow gear we're going to grow apart as a community? /skeptical

o.o Hi Sieg! I didn't recognize you in the forum form...um

I didn't like borrowing gear to be honest. After doing it I would just go and make my own because I felt awkward and nervous about losing it. >.>

It's all good, well you can do both! If you don't wanna borrow it, you can add to the economy by making your own and selling it later or go out and borrow a friends, no reason to restrict people that's what is suppose to be great about MMOs. The more the better.

To be honest tho, I'm just all kinds of antsy waiting for beta, and at the same time apprehensive about changes like this. I understand that a lot of stuff needed to be changed from 1.0 going forward and into ARR. BUT there are things like this, that I'm pretty sure wasn't an issue in 1.0 that I just don't feel was worth the development time, or even changing.

BTW Zumi, don't mind me because we're still not even in beta and anything could change. Who knows how things will go or change as the beta comes and each phase passes? Not trying to insinuate that this thing in particular will change, but anything can.
