Ya, using second hand items is not fun.
I once bought a second hand sword that had been repaired, but the core was broken! The repair simply served to camouflage the flaw, that sword should have be scrapped and melted.
I can't express how bad in a pinch I got when it broke.
So, yeah, I second this. ^^
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
This doesn't happen in FFXIV???Ya, using second hand items is not fun.

Crafting was always worthwhile, there was just no reason to make lower ended gear. People just PLVL straight to 50.
I don't believe this system will sit well in ARR because of Materia. It doesn't matter if melding chances shoot up significantly. If people lose all value on items they purchase, they will spend less. This isn't that great of an economic move. People who bought before will create their own now. I sure as hell am not going to spend 60k on an item I would have purchased before if I can go farm/make it myself.
A better move in my opinion was the limitation of leveling a certain craft past a certain level so people have to specialize.
All this system will do is hurt people will less Gil available, and force people who have a lot to not spend it as frequently.
For that same reason I hate BoE, it keeps prices artificially high: crafters who like that are obviously those that in the US at least rail against the 'first sale doctrine'.
Once I buy something I should have the right and ability to re-sell it.

What does being in the U.S have to do with anything? Dumb statement.
So, what about the armoir in the inn? Will that still take away spirit bond? (If I recall that's what it did in 1.0 correct?)We wanted to give you more information about the item binding that was mentioned in the Letter from the Producer Live IV.
For items that bind to characters, it will not be possible to transfer them to characters under the same account.
Also, since we are planning to make it so once you accumulate more than 1 point of spirit bond the item will be bound to you, as long as you do not fulfill this criteria it will be possible to transfer it to other characters.
Finally, regardless of whether they are bound to you or not, EX items and such that could not be transferred previously will still not be able to be transferred.

The Armoire took away the spiritbond due to a system limitation, it's pretty clear that it did not store the particular information about your item at all, it merely flagged if it existed or not (which requires far less storage space and is far simpler).
Given that ARR will use a completely new system, the new Armoire could very well be a complete storage keeping track of all the attributes of the item from repair stage to spiritbond

But they would still be U/U. The items in the armoire can have 0 spirit point and you can still not trade them to other players. The Armoire took away the spiritbond due to a system limitation, it's pretty clear that it did not store the particular information about your item at all, it merely flagged if it existed or not (which requires far less storage space and is far simpler).

Not a fan of the binding...anything that helps keep crafting relevant though - which is absent in most every other game except 14 - is something I'll support. I loved how important and useful crafting was in 1.0. Its something I miss every time I play another game.
