Legacy Member Name Change Solution?

I was wondering if this has been resolved and/or a final decision has been made yet.

I thought of a possible solution if you haven't figured it out yet...

Allow Legacy Members to Pre-register their new name here on the forums. Then pay some poor Dev to go through the character files and rename them manually.

Ideally when we boot up the new client our Legacy characters will already have their new names.

Maybe it's not feasible and previously I didn't really care but now that the Lore Naming Conventions have been released, I actually do want to change my characters Last Name to be more Eorzean.

Meh, we legacy members got enough already, let us rat race with the best of them.
Plus I sorta got lucky, my name sorta fits elvaan naming conventions, Alaula Aurelai. Maybe I could make it Alaula Aurelette, but that'd be weird.

Bleh, I got it wrong, would be Alaulette Aurelai, but that sounds... bleh. I'll stick to my close enough name. Why did my race's naming conventions be so boring... ; ;

Everyone should be able to change their names, legacy or not.
It's still up in the air, but devs are about 90% positive they can allow us to do this alongside the gender/race/aesthetic changes that we'll all be able to get.

It's still being worked on by the development team, and nothing has been confirmed yet, but here is the latest update made by Rukkirii a few weeks ago. When we have more details, we'll be sure to share them with you!

They said in the november live letter that it looks like they will be able to provide us with the name change but no 100% confirmation still..

As an actual developer, if my boss told me I had to go change 20,000+ records by hand, I would tell him to go f**k himself and quit on the spot.

Your solution is unfeasible for two reasons:

1) Not everyone would check the forums, and we'd have to see the post long before 2.0 is released.

2) I highly doubt SE has the manpower to do that much tedious work.

If you look at the Beta roadmap, they plan to test the import of 1.0 characters in Phase 3, even though what happens in Phase 3 is not permanent. I'm sure the changing of names will probably come up sometime around then.

still its understandable the high demand for this, given the number of people who chose dumb two-word phrases for names. Who wouldn't regret picking names like Goody Twoshoes, Pen Ismightier, and.... Pinkie Pie (Sorry! ) 2 years after picking them?

I hope that's what happened and people pick more name-like names.
