    Spiritbinding = Ex?

    From http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post956357

    錬精度が1以上溜まることでバインド化する想定のため、
    この条件を満たしていない物であれば、他のキャラクターと受け渡しを行うことはできます。
    なお、もともと受け渡しができないアイテム(Ex属性など)の場合は、
    バインド化の有無に関わらず受け渡しは出来ません。
The idea is that if you get more than 1 spirit bond point, the item will be bound to your character. Therefore, if it doesn't meet this requirement (Item having 0 spirit bond points) you will be able to trade with other characters.
For items which you can't trade in the first place (such as Ex status items) no matter if the item is bound to your character or not you will not still not be able to trade them.
This is news to me - or I just haven't been paying attention. Spiritbonding aside, I read this as any equipment that you've used ... at all... cannot be sold or traded. I'm not sure what to think about this. On the one hand, no more worrying about having to repair items to 100% in order to trade or sell because -- well you can't! On the other hand, it sort of sucks to not be able to lend gear to people in your Linkshell or other friends or hand me down gear your done with. Many times while leveling my items might not be spiritbound to 100% before I am upgrading to a new piece of equipment. So then what? Just toss it I guess?

Not really liking this change. Great for crafters though.

Almost ALL the game have "sould bound " items (guess why?). This is the best news ever for the game economy imho

I dont see how good for economy you see this! Really, if you like it to get stuck with your old clothes instead of having the chance to give it to one of your friends or just tryin to make some bucks out of it. But hey if you like keeping your old triple meld materia III-III-II ounce you done one with (IV-III-III) or (IV-IV-III) im glad you think its worth to put old stuff in the garbage or sell to NPC.............

That's what I took from it as well. It'd be nice to have a desynth option for equipment if that's the case, rather than just vendoring it.

I second this, if they can bring desynth in FFXIV would be good in this type of situation.
If you don't have crafting skills up, like repair option where others can repair for you have desynth option since you can't trade the item to them.

Or maybe spiritbond points apply a small buff to the weapon to keep it relevant if a player doesn't want to trade it away for aesthetic purposes. Or something.

It seems hard to believe that they'd make it so you can't trade away a weapon if you use it at all. That sounds like something that would obliterate the trade of anything except consumables and crafting ingredients.
From the reps post it's not clear if this will apply to every piece of gear but the 1 spirit bond point I mentioned here means like you equip the gear go outside and kill one mob makes the gear bound to you.

I agree as well. Its a total waste if we can't do SOMETHING with out old gear.

you can npc it or convert to materia. so yes, you can do something with it.

that said- desynthesis would still bring welcome depth to the system, since then players would be able to choose something other than materia. choosing to desynth rather than to make materia out of it could get you back one or two of the materials you used in the synth, and they could even introduce HQ desynth tiers so give you a chance for extra materials or higher quality materials from the desynth.

converting soulbound gear to materia is one good way to help remove excess materials from the economy, but desynth would be a fair option in addition.

For some reason the idea of converting a triple melded item, or NPC'ing it doesn't really strike as productive, nor pleasant.
