Get a 660 ti and save 200 dollars...I Agree it's a bad idea.
World of Warcraft is terrible. Jumping and controlling your character the same as WoW was plenty. Please stop building WoW 2.0. Blizzard has made the game too easy just so they keep subs from casuals.....
Not being able to sell your used double meld once you create a triple meld will make the RMT very happy^^
Bad idea, but we don't know all the details so maybe it isn't even something to worry about.
I will say this, I was planning on buying a new power supply and GTX 680 but now that I've read this I'm going to wait. I built my desktop for FFXIV. If SE makes WoW 2.0 I'm taking a trip to the pawn shop.
All work and no resale makes Fonzworth a dull boy!!!

Character bound gear . Some MMOs prompt you when you go to equip an item saying it will become bound to your character. What SE is saying is once you kill something while wearing that gear you will not be able to sell or trade that gear to another player. Crafting or harvesting while wearing gear will bound them to your character as well.
This is to take items out of the market so it's harder to flood the market and keeps prices from collapsing.

Materia system was already a good gear sink.
I'm ok with binding the gear after we melded the second materia on it (it would make the relict quest more interesting ^^), but binding it after we gained a bit spirit bound is not good.

Materia system may not be enough, for me I cannot tell; I'm not an economist, however I do know why MMOs implement this feature. It maybe a necessary evil because of adding an auction house and having gear that can be crafted with very few items. Hopefully SE has an economist advising them instead of adding it in because most other MMOs have it.
For people that flat out dismiss it, it's probably a good idea if you suggest a better alternative to remove items from the economy. Even if a lot of people say they hate it SE may not remove it because they think it's necessary for the economy. An suggested alternative may have a better effect of having character bound system removed.

Well since XIV is down and still waiting for my beta, I have tried other games and unfortunatly they have this same system. Now some one did say well this will help with not flooding the market but infact thats bull, because if something is a high seller players will choose to put it up and because the item is in demand the prices dont come down. Unfortunatly the other issue comes down to what the players ask for or wanted so in actuallity Yoshi gave them what they wanted but not in the way that these players though he would. We can bitch and cry all we want but the fact still remains this will be an average MMO and their isnt a damn thing we can do about it other than just not play. SO the choice is up to everyone regardless if you love the game or not, wheather you like certain things or you dont in the end the only way to get change will be to just not play. Now after all the the choice comes down to what is beta like and what will the final version be like or include or not, we will have to wait to see and judge.

That's supply and demand. If there's equal supply and demand then prices don't change if there's no inflation. This is the case that you're describing.
If there's a high supply and low demand then price goes down. ( if no inflation)
If there's a low supply and a high demand then price goes up. ( if no inflation)
With a questing system gear is easily obtain through quests, this increases the supply that competes with crafters. If nothing is done to offset the increase supply then the market becomes flooded. Crafting ingredients becomes more expensive than the finished product. This discourages players from crafting and makes it expensive.
There's a reason Yoshi-P is adding this system into the game. He doesn't just add things from other games for no reason.

I think I'm just gonna keep posting and hopefully my voice gets heard? Isn't that what this forum is all about? I think there is room for compromise, or even growth of this system. Best thing honestly if in Beta we don't like it: Tell Square to change/remove it. This system might not suit ARR.

I'll have to see what the changes to the materia system are before I cheer or cry but I think I'll be good with it.
