Here is one that would be inside your budget, Acer Aspire V3-571G-9828, it should easily run ARR on decent settings.

It's only a 15" but if that doesn't matter I would go for it personally.

Has there been a concrete date set for the benchmark? If its not to far away, i think i'll wait and get some feed back before making a final decision.

When you start using a laptop for online gaming, one of the most important things to look out for is dust in the spot right after it goes through the air fan but before it leaves laptop. It stick there to the grid and becomes a thick carpet layer. My first laptops eventually died from overheating (less then 2 years?), because the accumulated dust in that spot wasn't being removed.

What I'm trying to say is: get a laptop that has some kind of maintenance option if you're not able to do it yourself.

Edit: I hate Ati on laptops. They just stop updating driver for your card after a while, if they update it at all.

I tested on both desktop and laptop. I7 with the 650m 8gig ran it full at 720 and 1080p. All I can say.

It is important to keep your exhaust area clean. Blow it out on a regular bases. Many laptop have filter foam over intakes. You can open the case area that covers your memory, and hardrive slots, replace it, and the intake one which is usually held by a clip.

I am just going to say this. In higher end laptops (which hI prefer to call mobile desktops). Many use the HD4000+ and a Nvidia GT640,650,660m ect (want at 640 or higher). When running demanding games and it shifts to the NVidia gpu (make sure that game is in the profile list to use it) it will hog power. So be plugged in.

If using a laptop for school to game, invest in one that has decent specs. Don't have to go expensive and for name brands. I made that mistake, and watched a friends acer I7, 650m, with dual HArdrives (he popped in a solid state)... cream the hell out of my 1500.00 gaming one (which I took back). But expect to pay around 900.00

If yours supports dual drives, add a solid state drive. If using windows 7 or 8, let the Solid state drive be the caching drive (don't need the os on it unless yo uare goig nto use a 128gig or higher).

If a smaller SSD drive, use that drive as a secondary, set caching to it, and put the most played game on it. Most new LAptops have at least 8 gigs of ram anyway.

ASUS can be nice but they got slacky on notebook parts over the past year.

Save Money get a Acer with a I7 GT650m (the 660 had issues with power consumption so wait).

Oddly, you can swap the display mode on older v3 models to 1080p now (seems it was just an HD4000 driver issue that required an update)

Just keep in mind you need these untis plugged in for long play. THey use the HD4000 for casual play, and the Gt650 for high end. Which will also run the power fan higher (and you feel that air moving) and consume battery faster. Either invest in a higher battery or be near a plug.

DOn't rely on old benchmarks where the idiots didn't know how to change the gpu setting. I ran the test top notch, and crises at full.

With Laptops, it's usually the manufacturer of the Laptop who "updates" the video drivers. Most companies modify the chip ID info so stock drivers don't work(unless you know what you're doing). And the manufacturer tends to fall behind, yes.

The old benchmark was to put it bluntly pretty bad, the new one has a totally new engine and as we have seen from the alpha screen shots with Yoshi.P its pretty and can support a lot of players all at once. The new benchmark should give a clearer idea as to what to expect.
