As long as I become a barracuda or a barracuda equal lore-wise (so that I belong to the special force of a certain boss or am deeply connected to them) I don't care. That's the only thing I need to be happy. >w<

Yes, I understand. I think the jobs need to have guilds as well in the game, even though it's slightly contrary to some of the lore. The guilds' lore is already completely screwed up with the conj/thm debacle and I hope they retcon it in some way.having Musketeer as a class is much more possible than have it as a job.
1. Each class has a guild, jobs don't have guilds (because a job is part of the class, not something independent)
2. In Limsa Lominsa is a Musketeer guild
With some luck we can in the near future shoot like Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn ^^

I think i'll have to jump on the Corsair train for this one. Considering the whole Pirate lore and the Leader of Limsa being a Musketeer, I don't think they would diverge from that all too much. Corsairs also have the unique position of being a support class similar to what they have done with Bard. They can deal good damage, but fall back and offer boosts to alies.
People often count out MSK as the next class because of the DoW to DoM imbalance, but this isn't really the case. If you look at the break down of classes more closely corsair would go a long way to properly balance the game.
Tank - Pld, War
Damage - Mnk, Drg, Blm, Sum
Healing - Whm
Support - Brd, Cor
Now we just need to find a second healer, and public opinion appears to be against it being Rdm. Red Mage will likely fall in the Damage category.

Considering how luck based Corsair seems though, wouldn't it be from Ul'dah? From the Platinum Mirage. Doesn't necessarily have to be a shooter in that case, just have that skill set.
Anyways, I think it would be interesting if they did some sort of explosives based job ;x
Since Arcanist is summoner, the Job for the Muskateer could always be that trap based class that people were talking about being in the dats way back.
Limsa is all rightCorsair may refer to:
A privateer or pirate, in particular:
Barbary corsairs
French corsairs
commerce raiders
And Platinum Mirage has already the pugilists.
My implication was that a luck based skill set, such as with the Corsairs in FF11, would be well suited for a guild located in the Platinum Mirage because gambling.
Not so much that it needs to be a gun toting job, or be called Corsair at that point.
Also, the pgl guild isn't exactly IN the Platinum Mirage. Its more next to/attached to.

How about a Gambler job?
Just like Setzer Gabbiani.
"A gambling vagabond who finds freedom from society's narrow views of morality aboard his airship, the Blackjack..."
Even the clothes would fit Final Fantasy XIV nicely.

I would prefer a pure ranged DD class again. Loved ARC till they gave it BRD; not that BRD is a bad class, far from it, but I miss old school ARC.
I would like Musketeer to advance to Corsair; many have stated sound enough reasons for me to conclude that it would be the most fitting choice. Plus my Boner for a gun class that is also a pirate.
In my imagination Musketeer would equip Rifle (MH only). Corsair would get MH and OH weapons, like a combo set where you need to pick your weapon pack.
ex: pistol & short sword, pistol & pistol, blunderbuss & pistol, pistol & dagger, Blunderbuss & dagger and so on. With the MH always being a firearm.
I know this is a bit much but I would like to see Corsair and even Musketeer get something similar to Monk 1.0 elemental fists added to their ranged attacks.
As far as Dual Wield goes I hope they perma-lock it to its respective class. Ex: Assassin >Ninja. I do not like the idea of equipping a job trait to any class, kind of want to get away from FFXI in that aspect.
I do not like the idea of RDM being the advance job for musketeer. I would rather see RDM as a Fencer using rapiers and possibly buckler type shields if they are allowed an OH. But tbh I’d actually prefer if RDM turned into something similar to the play-style of Blue Mage from FFXI set more on enfeebling enemies through: abilities, skills, attacks, weapon skills, light spells.
And for any further comments dealing with my relation to FFXI, it is the easiest way for the readers of the forum to understand what I am trying to convey as most have played the game and can familiarize with the terms, concepts, and mechanics within it.
There are enough "gamble" jobs in FF lore to roll COR into another gambling role similar to XI.
They do risk overlapping BRD and COR if they do it similar to XI though, so the party buffs would have to be pretty balanced to justify its use.
In saying that, the gambling lore I feel comes more from Ul'dah, not Limsa (I could be wrong I guess) as Ul'dah is the merchant / money city.
I think it's almost without a doubt that COR will stem from Musketeer, but it will be very interesting to see how the job is done in 2.0, and whether it fits in line with the mechanics.
I am posting this in general discussion because there is no forum for this particular class.
Anyway, we know that the Arcanist class eventually allows a player to access the Summoner job. Most of us also strongly anticipate that the Musketeer class will be available at launch, otherwise there will be a population imbalance with only two starting classes in Limsa Lominsa, and three in every other city.
So if MUS is going to be a starting class, what job do you think it will open up? Because its guild is in Limsa Lominsa, Corsair seems very logical. But, Ranger is a possibility too. Remember, Naoki Yoshida is the guy that turned Archers into Bards(?!).
So what if it is Corsair? What do you think would be the secondary class requirement (if they even still exist in 2.0)? Archer would seem logical ... but again, this is the same guy who made Pugilist a sub-class requirement of Black Mage.
I am just wondering how the rest of the community thinks this will go down.
Most of us strongly anticipate? Only if you havnt been paying attention to ANY of the news regarding 2.0 for the past 6-8 months would you anticipate anything to do with Musketeer at 2.0 launch. Sorry buddy...not yet...
I have within me the blood of legends!
