All that in the first 9 min. video. But ppl here, just prefer to defend the SE politics: less you know better is. :/

Guys if you keep saying it's early for this kind of information i'm asking for, i'm sorry to say but you don't know how much about mmo's (without offense ofcourse, but most ppl here just played XI and XIV.. )

The basic information (foundations, ideas, or call anyhow you want) are given when a game is announced.. Look TESO first video.
Other examples: From GW2 announcement you knew that it will have RvR massive PvP, dynamic combat, innovative PvE without class trident etc etc.
SWTOR: great and always voice acting story lines, classic WoW style combat, and so on.

For XIV we're almost in beta and we don't know anything on pvp, anything on character development like revamped job system, any spec/build system (are we gonna to be again all clones with 0 customization like 1.0 ? )?

It's pretty ridicolous that you know more about the direction of a game "just announced" like TESO, then ARR.

    p.s Good Morning

Giving out lots of information early on isn't necessarily a good thing though. Good examples are WAR and Vanguard, both handed out a whole lot of info pre-release, but in the end, many of the more unique features turned out to be difficult to implement, so they had to either remove them, or dumb them down considerably. There's a much greater negative impact when you promise something and can't keep it, than not announcing a feature or announcing it fairly late. I'd love to see some more stuff as well, but I'd rather not they talk about possible features that may get canned ..

And, actually, there's actually quite a bit of info out there if you look for it, it's just not gathered all in 1 spot. Just re-watch/re-read some of the live letters and you'll know that most of the main story will be voice acted (they even said why they don't want to voice act everything), there will continue to be both classes and jobs, screenshots etc. from character creation show much more customisation options, etc. etc. There is info there, it's just spoon fed to you.

Also, while TESO may have been 'just' announced, it's been in development longer than ARR has

Well i think when yoshi is starting the promotion tour on 10th february we get informations like this and that, what features the game does offer.

i think they havent told us till now.. because they were unsure if this and that feature is going to make it into the game release or not. maybe they are still unsure ;X

instead of saying "feature x and feature y are implemented at game release" and when it comes to release it is not.. it wouldnt be a good PR for the game.

There is a difference between XIV, TESO and SWTOR. XIV won't suck.

On that note, although being "just announced", TESO is starting beta fairly shortly, so one would presume it has been in development for about the duration ARR has been, and I can guarantee that the people following this game from when it was "announced" know a lot more about ARR then we do about TESO.

We don't have a marketing trailer that shows the "best bits" of the game like TESO does yet, but we do have extensive information about the battle system, the environment, the lore/storyline and generally how the game will function.

We may not have as much "width" but we have "depth" when it comes to knowledge about the game. TESO you may vaguely know lots of little things about the general concept, ARR you should know (if you have been following since the first announcement) lots of "big" things. Just because your specific questions have been chosen to be kept under the radar for now, doesn't mean you don't know much about the game.

I also daresay you don't have these kind of answers yet because these kinds of questions will depend on the community's response to beta.

As a player who enjoyed 1.0 the way it was in the end (after 1.23) and who was a long time player of XI, I feel I have no idea of what ARR will be like and if I'll enjoy playing it. This worries me, as I really think that at this point I should have more information.

The thing is, we don't know when this game will be released. Well, according to the beta roadmap, the minimum time for the beta would be 8 weeks and maximum time would be 18 weeks and beta should start "mid-February", so that would mean launch is scheduled for somewhere between mid-April and end of June. This means we'd have up to 5 months until launch.

That's not a long time, and it makes me wonder what I actually know about the game at this stage.

    What we know is this:

    * There will be 8 classes and 8 jobs. They will be different from their 1.0 versions, but we don't know how.

    * The battle mechanics will be different. At this point we know a global cooldown is planned. We also know some kind of a group "limit break" ability is planned, but don't know the details. We don't know what kind of moves the enemies will be using, how they will behave, how buffs and enfeebles will work, how important positioning will be during battle, or any other details like that.

    * We know we can include chocobos in our party to fight with us. We don't know any details on how this will work.

    * We know there will be end game dungeons (revamped versions from the old ones and new ones, I think). We don't know the details on what they will be like, if there will be different difficulty levels etc.

    * We know there will be new (and revamped versions of the old) primal battles, but we don't know how they work.

    * We know there will be a FATE system. We don't know any details.

    * We know there will be a "Golden Saucer". We don't know any details.

    * We know there will be two PvP venues, Coliseum and Frontlines, released after the launch. We don't know any details on how PvP works and what the areas are like.

    * We know there will be a cross-server "dungeon finder" system, but don't know any details.

I think you can see where I'm going with this... I feel like every time they release some piece of information, it's extremely vague and can be intepreted in at least 10 different ways. All they're saying is "we have this really cool system where you will be able to do epic things, please look forward to it!"

I understand they can't give us all the details on everything, especially as some things are still (hopefully) changing based on test feedback etc. But as the scheduled launch is only 5 months (or less) away, surely they have to have some kind of plans, even some detailed ones, for what the game will be like, what it offers to the player, how do the battles work, how do the enemies behave, how the end game content will be build etc.

Surely they could schedule some kind of blog post series on these subjects, for example presenting the revamped classes, explaining what the dungeons will be like (if they'll have different difficulty levels, if they'll have puzzles, what kind of loot they'll have etc.), presenting FATE...

Maybe we will know more when the beta starts, and I certainly hope so.

People are just too impatient... I typed in "wait for beta" in google images, and thought this was fitting..

Being told something is a poor substitute from experiencing that thing first hand.

Beta will be out by the end of the month. If you're not in it, alas, you'll have to wait until the NDA is lifted. But I don't agree with writing one's self in a corner by trying to push details that may not make it into the final product.

since when did SE give detailed info about their games?

If you liked the changes Yoshi team did in 1.0, then why should you be doubtful that you wouldn't enjoy 2.0?

There would be no need for NDA, if they explained exactly how the game worked in all those regards
