If you use "We don't need it" as an excuse:
-We don't need materia.
-We don't need different races.
-We don't need different classes/jobs.
-We don't need character customization.
-We don't need Chocobos.
-We don't need Grand Companies.
-We don't need dungeons.
It's something basic that most MMOs have now a days. Therefor they will add it, to appeal to those who DO like pvp. It's not needed, but it's entertaining to many. Soooo use a better reason to say why they shouldn't implement PVP. It's not affecting those who don't want to do it in any way.

Developement resources!!!!!

Since you want to know so much about pvp, heres what we have been told, yes we have been told before, many times actually, about their plans.
1. Pvp "area" / "region" / etc. a bit like making mor dhona into a contested area where people fight between eachothers. You will be able to party up with people, though, free companies mainly come into the picture here, seeing as a free company can summon ifrit and the other summons in this zone.
2. Colloseum, little info is known, but its coming.
The chance of a duel system and instances coming is of course there, but they havent said anything on the subject yet, and they wont do either, seeing as pvp wont even be there at release, but in later patch or expansion.
Also, just so it is said, no, world pvp wont happen.
He has a point though. However to comment on what you state, FF has always be an offline series only 2 (3 if you count Fantasy Earth) MMOs that PvP isn't a thing. We don't NEED PvP as these aren't PvP based MMOs. It would be nice for those who like PvP, but as a need? No.If you use "We don't need it" as an excuse:

If we go by the:
"It's something most MMOs have nowadays"
Most MMOs are all built the same and are all the same tripe day in and day out, so ARR most definitely shouldn't try to stand out or do anything different. Honestly, download a few MMOs and play some of the AAA title ones, you'll see very little..innovation or trying to do something different.
This is why you can't say "We don't need basic features" by the logic of not needing PvP when this series, especially online wise, wasn't built around PvP like other MMOs are. Most MMOs are built with PvP largely in mind and tend to suffer in the PvE department or the companies eventually screw up the PvE elements in favor of PvP.
We don't need anything, we want things. Players don't know what a game needs or else we wouldn't get an MMO that lasts longer than a day. Why do you think SE is making this a fanservice title? They know it need to resemble a FF game much like its predecessor.
I dont think there will be world pvp yoship says no to that we know that but not having coliesium for pvp in the begining will reflect badly and that what this thread is about. Sure jpn wont be pvping that much but majority of the other world do.
That is the point if this thread is all about not saying asking for world pvp
The difference this time is there's WAY more communication from the dev team. Everything is pretty transparent as far as what features will be in the game by open beta. The only thing to do at this point is wait to test them in each beta phase. At that point, people will be able to make the determination as to whether the game is going in a direction that will still be enjoyable for them to play or not. Nobody has anything extra invested into the game, so it's not like there's anything for us as the players to lose. We will end up with a game we either like or we don't.
"Don't you worry about X, let me worry about X" ergo, why are you stressed about it? you arent the one who is working on the system and getting railroaded about how wrong EVERY decision they make is.
i agree with everything except for the low man stuff, fuk low man endgame. i want 25man stuff, hell i want full linkshell 64 man stuff like ffxi, so saying it's a dying endgame is bull shit. it's just too many lazy asshats in these mmo's and selfish tards that would rather gear themselves as quick as possible and quit that endgame for ever. but other then that, i agree ...we need info ..i been saying that for ever. how they gonna drag us threw waiting. they need to give us every info right away. then eventually came out the road map. but even now it's not enough, i want to know about endgame. i want to know if i'm waiting for nothing, i wanted to know then if i was playing for nothing. the most important stuff they aren't telling us nothing about. the stuff they show is absolutely pointless things that only a 3rd grader would get excited about. though what they do show us, and tell us already makes me think will good reason that this game crumble just as quick as it did the first time. lets hope not but ...my heart is huge for the game, but my brain knows better.
