    As for Louisoix, it sure looks like french.
    Now my knowledge of french is very limited, but I can try to guess to guess the correct spelling by cutting it in two parts: Louis-oix

    Louis is a common french name (the french version of Luigi, of Nintendo fame), and it's spelt, hmmm.. Luì(s) [accent indicating stress].
    Here, listen to it here: http://forvo.com/word/louis/#fr

    As for -oix, I'm not 100% sure but it SHOULD sound like another name I know (the painter Delacroix), and sounds more or less like a -wà
    http://forvo.com/word/delacroix/#fr
    Can you hear it? Like du-la-qwa

    Put the two things together, and we have something that sounds more or less like Luiwà (in french, the stress seems to be always on the last syllabe) or Luiswà if we hint at the s (almost mute).
    This pretty much fits with the japanese spelling ルイゾワ ruizowa

    Opinions?

    Yup it's French and should be pronounced lou-swar, or more le-swah ..

    It's difficult to explain how something should be pronounced through letters phonetically as I know a lot of you guys are American or from other countries to my own. Le-swar sounds entirely different to others as it does here in England, in fact just with different dialects of English you have that issue, but in England we're all quite accustomed to the French Language as it's just a lil south.

    Shiva = She- vah (or maybe Shiv - ah)
    Leviathan = Lee - vy - ah - thin
    Ifrit = If - rit (According to FFXII, it's If - freet)
    Titan = Tie - tin
    Ramuh = Ruh - moo
    Garuda = Garr -ru -duh

    I was raised bilingual, so I was speaking both English and Spanish before I could even remember. People always ask me which language I learned first, but honestly, I've had both since I could remember, so when I speak English or Spanish, I don't have an accent lol.

    Since I find studying other languages intriguing, I decided to first master Spanish "officially", so I did a double major in Spanish and Graphic Design (Spanish took me 2years because I tested out of certain classes due to fluency).

    I've studied Japanese on and off for about 11 years now. The phonetic system and sounds are similar to Spanish, so it was very easy for me to get into. I can read/write katakana and hiragana, and can read a certain amount of kanji. I can't say I'm anywhere near fluent, but I can navigate it pretty decently.

    Dutch I picked up equally fast because, again, some of the sounds I already had from Spanish, while others are English sounds, but just spelled differently (Dijkstra, my chara's last name, could easy be written Dike-stra). All I had to do was pick up on the certain consonant and vowel rules such as oe = uuu, ch= ch or spanish j sound depending on where it is in the word, j= y sound (my Dutch friends always greet me with "hej!" instead of "hey!" xD). I stayed in Holland for about two months, so the immersion helped immensely in me picking up the sounds and associating them with the words. It was really easy after that.

    French I'm so-so with. I can't hold a conversation well, but I can read it and understand it fairly well.

    Sorry if I rambled too long ; ; I just love learning languages.

    Wow. I leave you guys for twenty-four hours and this thread explodes...

    I wonder if someone wanted to go through all the game's spoken cutscenes and pull out the official pronunciations used by the voice actors? That's the stuff that lays down the law on this subject.

    I already have haha. A lot of names don't get spoken, but the ones I remember off the top of my head are Papalymo, Nielle, F'lhaminn and uh...that's all I can remember. >_>

    I know right? So many times I just wanted to say "but you can just read it the way it's written!" D: from Miqo'te to Gridania to Merwlyb. Just that it's not the way you read it as it's written in english
