    Even if you reformatted all of English to follow a phonetic it would still change over time and you'd need new phonetics later (languages change over time).


    Japanese isn't void of this problem (I'm assuming you speak Japanese or some non Indo-European based language).


    I don't really know much of the language but I know there are some oddities with "su" sometimes pronounced sometimes not (masu vs desu (sounds like "dess" to a non-native speaker)). Give any language enough time in a natural environment and it will mutate. Other examples I remember (from one class of japanese) ha is written but pronounced wa. He is more so said e.


    Just googled pitch, thanks to wikipedia one example:


    [háɕì] vs [hàɕí] vs [hàɕí]


    I think the last one is haji, but the first two I know are hashi but are indeed pronounced slightly different. And we havent even included the different accents of Japan.
